LCP & Waxpool?

I would say as a result of not paying attention.

There are still people who drive 35 on LCP who are not aware that the speed limit changed to 45 months ago.

 

Yep, seen it twice now. VDOT needs a sign on the light pole that shows this is a through lane.

 

the change should be more clearly pointed out. i drive that road almost daily, and KNEW about the change, and STILL forgot that someone could be proceeding straight on my left instead of that third lane magically appearing after crossing over LCP.

that big temporary flashing sign could easily announce WHAT the change is instead of making ppl guess: THRU LANE ADDED ON LEFT, APPROACH LCP WITH CAUTION.

look how easy that is...

right now it says "CAUTION NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AHEAD." mine adds 4 words. let's make it 1 word: THRU LANE ADDED, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

 

How about just "PAY ATTENTION"

Sorry....been couped up with my toddler all day....two word sentences is his limit, so perhaps it'll work for drivers too! ;-)

 

it would be nice for people to know WHAT they are looking for. if you travel a road daily and always turn left from that outside turning lane, it might not just occur to you that the pattern change is a removal of the turning lane.

of course ultimately the drivers are responsible for whatever happens, i just hate the fact that someone innocent who is doing the right thing will likely be hurt by someone not paying attention to figuring out what the change in the pattern is.

 

My thought was "WATCH OUT"

Travelling eastbound on Waxpool this morning at 0600, two cars in the inside left lane waiting for the left turn arrow to proceed north on LCP -- the left turn arrow that doesn't exist anymore!

Folks, it goes without saying you must stay extra alert when approaching that intersection from any direction! I am afraid to say it's a near certainty there is going to be a very bad acident there in the near future. I just pray none of us are a part of it.

 

Sorry, my bad! I should have specified..."the left turn arrow that doesn't exist for that lane anymore!"

 

OH! got it- I thought of the INSIDE turn lane as the one closest to oncoming traffic and that the actual TURN ARROW LIGHT was now gone. see how differently ppl think...?

tho The Man tells me I am always bassackward to what MOST folks find logical...

i digress. there will be a ramming sooner or later... sad to say. and you can't even WARN someone about it once they are sitting there since you are driving. ooooh boy.

 

at about 11:15AM today I saw the same thing happen. I was going straight through the light on Waxpool, heading towards Wegmans, noticing the fresh paint indicating one of the old turn lanes is now a straight lane (and noticed the SINGLE light for turning left onto LCP). The car right next to me stopped at the green light, waiting to go left. I was moving so didn't see what happened when they both tried to turn left. People really need to pay attention! Traffic patterns change often around here. We'll probably be seeing a spike in accidents at that intersection, unfortunately.
