Suck it up and just pay the toll (like I do).

You'll find the money spent is worth your sanity once you arrive at work. I also work in Herndon (off of Worldgate). I get on the Greenway at Ashburn Village and take Exit 10 - Herndon. It usually takes me about 12 minutes from the time I get on the Greenway to my office, although as someone pointed out there is sometimes a backup at the Greenway Toll Plaza, but not too often.

One note: Fridays are light traffic days so I sometimes take Ashburn Farm Pkwy/Farmwell Rd/Waxpool Rd to 28 -> 606 (Herndon) -> Herndon Pkwy -> Elden St to save a little money once a week.

For some spending that extra $35/week ($7/day, $3.50/one-way twice a day) adds up (to over $1,800/year). I have better ideas as to how to spend that money...save it!

And the prices of the greenway are going to increase :(

Friends don't let friends drive on the Greenway.

Thinking a little outside the box here: maybe u2 (Mrdoctor, razng2grtboys) can carpool: using the toll Road will be faster for MrDoctor and the toll-cost could be shared (cheaper for ranzg).
On a personal note, I also work near Worldgate and would LOVE to carpool but I since I live in Ashburn Village, it wont make sense for us to do that.

My suggestion was to use the Greenway only M-TH (morning only) = $14/wk....well worth it!

unfortunately carpooling is not good for me due to my strict daily regimine...drop one child off at the bus stop, drop the other off at daycare, get to work by 8AM, then leave the office at precisely 4:30PM in order to not get into too much traffic getting back to Ashburn via Rt. 28/Waxpool Rd. I suppose if another "Worldgater" had the same hours it might work...

Obviously any connection from LCP to 606 would provide a great alternate for so many, but even though it is on the County transportation plan in two places to connect (Shellhorn extended and the extension of the road that is the first left turn off of LCP after crossing the Greenway heading towards Brambleton) I have no idea when they'll be connected or how they will be paid for.

One simple thing they can do now to keep traffic flowing off of LCP to turn onto Waxpool in the morning is to take the two lanes coming East on Waxpool from Ashburn and keep them in the two leftmost lanes after crossing LCP. That would leave the third lane that starts at LCP for a continual stream of cars turning right. Right now the two lanes going to three are aligned to go to the right two lanes and not the left two. I leave home at 6 AM and go LCP to Waxpool to turn right. If I don't catch the light it is usually a full light cycle until I can turn since there is little or no break in traffic to turn right on red, even at that time of day.

If you mean the Houlihans attached to the hotel, yes my family has been several times and we really like it. A nice atmosphere and the food is good, with a menu that has some un-ordinary selections. The portions are large, not that anyone needs a huge meal...

Yes, I've had a few team meetings there. Lunch buffet is not bad at all.

Okay. Yesterday I had to be at an appointment at Rte 50/Centerville Rd at 9am.
This meant I would finally have to drive in the dreaded rush hour. I left the house at 8:00am.
I took Waxpool Rd, turned right onto Shellhorn to Loudoun County Parkway. Here I encountered a 1 minute delay to make the left turn.
It took two full cycles of the light to make the right turn back onto Waxpool.
From there it was smooth sailing. No back-ups on Rte 28 or anywhere.
It only took me about 7 minutes longer than non rush hour.
So why was it so easy? Because it was Friday? Did I just get lucky?

I find the busiest time around here for traffic is 6:45-7:30am. It may be many people out this way work closer to the city and therefore leave earlier in the morning to beat the rush.
