The way to deter speeders is easy.. regular police presence. The hard part is how to get it :)

I can tell you I drive on cruise control at 38 mph EVERY day through the village because I know the police are always (at least 2-3 times a month) on the part of the road between the waxpool intersection and the first lake.

Police have been on Claibourne a good bit too, but not nearly as regular.

Looking at the map.. I see your street is somewhat of a thru-road. I guess people carry speed coming down broadlands blvd and keep speeding once they turn into the neighborhood.

There are only a few streets that have the $200 additional speeding fine. Ashburn Village Blvd is one of them.
It takes some effort to get it done. The county supervisors, VDOT, and sheriff's office all have to be involved to get it done. It would be a possibility for major roads such as Claiborne, Waxpool, Broadlands Blvd. I doubt any other street would qualify.
I would conclude it has worked in the Village. Speeds on that road have definitely come down.

Earlier I had mentioned $1500 for temporary/removeable speed bump. We recently received an estimate for permanent speed bumps. 3 for $1500, and 6 for $2400. Installing the first speed bump is the most expensive.
