Is it just me, or is this new overpass design just ridiculous. It is hard enough to turn left from the west bound exit during the day but next to impossible at night because there are no street lights.

I cannot see traffic coming from the left during the day because the overpass has a high arch in it and I even drive a Murano. Yes, I am short but that is besides the point.

Now, you have to cross over four lanes to make the left and do so in the pitch black at night because there are no lights.

I managed to make the turn but narrowly missed the divider. However, I still did not finish the turn completely in a lane because I could not see them until the turn was finished.

I am curious who owns this overpass and who is responsible for adding street lights to it.

Sure hope their liability insurance is up to date since this is an accident waiting to happen.

Qz...hey dingus (and you know I love you b/c I have too)...you fear this interchange? Try a phonebook and actually looking both ways before you hit the gas..

What about our own garage that you've managed to hit 3 times in broad day light.

I wouldn't have hit the garage if you hadn't jumped out of the way.... and for the record I am 7" taller than you are. So I saved two phone books for you.

Funny - when I called usaa I had to ask
"is this a homeowners claim, an auto claim or I married a poor driver claim?"

    Hey Pea!

Short people are cool - like you, at least the ones that don't try to pull a "Bonaparte" attitude! More than half of the hollywood actors are shorter than we think they are...

Yes... back on topic. That interchange is nasty! Even if I'm coming over the bridge having come from the Home Depot area I approach with caution because i know any turners can't see me worth squat. Bah.

Actually, she is at least an inch taller than ME!

And I suggest going to exit 5 instead. Much safer.

The Exit 7 bridge is similar and you have to cross several lanes of traffic too. At least at Exit 6, there's a bit less traffic going into Broadlands than the traffic traveling south on LCP.

that intersection was about the only thing that has ever been designed to be best used during construction. Now that the huge orange pylons are out of the way it is almost impossible to make it across there from 5-7 pm.

This interchange is a modified diamond interchange with a part cloverleaf in it. This interchange will require two traffic signals to be negotiated safely especially when there is a lot of traffic. That is right two more traffic signals on ashburn village drive when we can't even get one at waxpool for a long time to come.:( I am surprised VDOT did not require these signals immediately at all the silly interchanges that are designed to save the greenway money. I wonder now who will be putting them in. If it is VDOT or the county I would say it won't happen in our lifetime;)

Another traffic nightmare in the making. Yep we really need a hospital sitting here with thousands of more cars coming with no decent traffic improvements coming from it (hellooo waxpool anyone????) as much as it would be nice to have belmont, waxpool is in dire need of surgery immediately as an matter of fact I would say waxpool is on life support soon to be dead. Another reason to build the hospital over between brambleton and arcola where there is a lot of developer proffers to kick in for roads sooner then we are going to get any improvement.

Lee - For Pete sake's this crazy traffic configuration has NOTHING to do with the hospital but here you go again on your fearmongering tangents.

You’ve now turned into the new Barbara Munsey...YIKES!!!

Per a Washington Post blog a few months back...

From Charles Acker from the Loudoun County Transportation Department

"Plus the Greenway is just finishing up their extra bridge to make a multi-lane road to where it becomes Ryan Road and there will be a signal that comes off the ramp." Acker explained that the funding for that project is through the Greenway and the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation."

I guess you could contact this gentleman for a timeframe on when this will be completed.

    Updates:
Called LoCo Dept Trans - Terrie Laylock's office straight to VM

*rant* its frustrating to call a local government office # and have it go directly to VM

Called Vdot local office 703-737-2000 and spoke with Doug - said its a greenway issue and is awaiting for the PM of the overpass to get into the office
Called Vdot Traffic Ops 703-383-8386 and spoke w/ Evelyn - she is escalating to the DTR (huh?)
Called Greenway - 703-668-0021 - Ann Lawler who indicated this is a Vdot issue
Called Shirley Contracting (Springfield office) - who indicated they get their directions from Vdot and not concerned citizens,

So - it is a pass the buck game, but I will post updates

It's VDOT's project that has been contracted out to Shirley contracting. Call one/both of them for answers.

I was told by a Shirley empolyee that there will be a light coming off the greenway ramp.

I told my husband if they put a light there I'm never leaving home because I can't get out of the Broadlands! It has taken me an hour to get to 28 some mornings because of accidents, etc.

Once housing prices go up we'll move - but that's another story. I love our neighborhood but I'm so frustrated that I cannot get out!
