While we are at it we should call about all three interchanges LCP Ashburn Village and Claiborne

They all are finished interchanges and need lights.

I remeber the battle we went thru just to get a four way stop at ashburn village and waxpool in the late nineties.

It took years of calling and complaining first we were told it had to be studied and that could take a year in itself. Meanwhile there were numerous accidents and serious for years. Even the police that investigated these accidents said at that time it was one of the worst in the county at that time.

Well there was finally an accident so bad can't remember if a child died or it was just extremely serious but it involved a child. Anyway the studied was shorten at the speed of light we had a four way stop sign. Doom and gloom it does not matter, that is what it took to get the four way sign up. Years of complaining did no good. Maybe Stevens Miller can look into getting traffic lights at all three greenway intersections. It seems to take an act of God to get even the slightest traffic improvements around here.

Will it be just like the Traffic Light down just over the bridge down by the Giant and Chipotle, you know the one that has been completed for a few weeks and is still a 4 way stop sign?

ok finally got some head way - the overpass @ exit 6 VA RT 772 (ryan rd) is NOT or is a Dvot project -

POC is Shirley contracting - Rick Meyer 571-223-2235 ext 109

...I've only left a message, but the Vdot rep told me that Rick is great to work with and welcomes input from drivers regarding projects he manages such as this one.

Rick called and here is the scoop:

    1) Shirley Contracting is off bond and per Vdot they were instructed to remove the traffic orange cones.

    2) The traffic light (new phase of project & install by "a developer") has already had the foundation poured, circuits and awaiting poles - " it is now the responsibility of the developer to ensure traffic assistance (orange cones)"

Rick indicated that he would bring up the concern with the Greenway project mgr during his weekly meeting.

I am stuck b/c he doesnt know who the "developer" is...my hunch it might be Van Metre (as they recently co-oped the cost of the new signage $500K)...Cliff any idea on this???

It could be Van Metre or the Developer of the commercial area on the other side of the Greenway.

Also moorefield and the developer of the giant shopping center could be involved as well as loudoun station. Sometimes it becomes hard to figure out who ultimately becomes responsible, could be all of them together in this. Not always is it just the adjoining property owners responsible, it could be a multiple of them.

There is an email address on this site. http://loudouncivicandtransitcenter.com/

I do have somewhere the name and phone number from way back of the person in charge of this tract of land for moorefield, I will see if I still have it somewhere. And post it.

I don't think it warrants an agenda item, but I'll ask Van Metre about it.

    Pea, Cliff, and others --

THANK YOU! Thank you for taking the time to do the leg work that many of us (residents who aren't on the forums, residents who lurk on the forums, and residents who comment on the forums) don't do for whatever reason each of us has. As a daily commuter into DC and Exit 6 daredevil, I appreciate you doing what I have thought about as I hold my breath exiting to get home but then fail to do as once I walk in the door I am overtaken by "life" (as I am sure you are too!).

    So, thank you.

Here's what I've been able to find out so far:
Spoke to the CEO for the Toll Road. He informed me that the traffic lights will be installed. It was a proffer from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation.
The plans are at VDOT awaiting final approval. His best guess was that the lights would be up in March or April.
I called the Project Manager at Claude Moore, but he wasn't in. I left a message asking for any information he could provide. I'll keep you updated.

Spoke to the Claude Moore rep. and he confirmed the timeline of March/April for installation. He also mentioned that VDOT is aware of how dangerous that intersection has become and are considering putting the cones back up until the lights are in.
If you want to provide feedback, call VDOT and let them know.

I think that what we ALL need to do in the time being is to be extra careful every time we come on that overpass. That way we can make things a little better than it is without a light.

    I know, I know...but I can dream, right.

Are there any plans for a light at the westbound Greenway exit at Claiborne? Traffic was backed up onto the Greenway tonight and has been in the past. It's not just traffic turning left onto Claiborne, but also all the extra traffic northbound onto Claiborne now that it's open to Route 7.

They need to either put in a light or a half-cloverleaf. Are there any improvements planned?

That's what's great about Broadlands - we have three exits on the Greenway to use. I imagine that when (if ever) Broadlands Blvd connects to Belmont Ridge, it would be more convenient for people to exit at Belmont Ridge than wait at the Claiborne exit.

I, for one, would hate to see more lights on Claiborne. Eventually there will be 8 between Village Dr. and Route 7! (starting to sound like Waxpool!)
