Interesting. I have been to Fairfax Inova a few times and we have always had a very good experience and I am an RN so I know what to look for in most cases, pertaining to treatment, paperwork, follow through, facilities, employees and such.
I have also been to Loudoun a few times just this past year, even the ER. Good experiences all of them.
I have had two very bad (due to sloppiness) experiences at Reston.
    So, there you go.

    Barb,

This is the most vile personal attack I've read on this forum. That is saying a lot. Congratulations.

    SK8R-
An interesting about face on your part. Early on, we had a conversation about the hospital. I asked you which you prefer, Reston or Loudoun. You definitively stated Reston was far superior. I remember watching you pick your jaw off the ground when I informed you that Reston was owned by HCA, the same people who want to build BRMC.
Sounds like you're now hiding your NIMBYism by changing your tune about the two facilities. It's okay to oppose it, but at least try to stay consistent and honest about it.
    So there you go.

I first laughed out loud at this response. But it really isn't funny. What a precise consolidation of the issue.

Over the last 3 years, two times lost records at Reston, lost xrays (never found) and once no record of me even being there for the test. I am standing there waiting and waiting and one employee is using profanity speaking to another right in the waiting area.
Yeah, I have since been going to Loudoun and have had a much better experience. A much more professional atmoshpere. Just my feeling... I never said anything about Reston being horrific or incompetent so please just cool it. I can't stand this flared temper stuff.

as for jdhauer's experience. You just never know. One person has a good experience and another a "horrific" one. I just don't like hearing people say outright that one hospital is totally inferior because of one bad visit then!

I have nothing against another hospital in Loudoun County... even when I lived on Tithables I did not think it belonged in the B-lands.
We are moving in a year or so and I could say it doesnt really matter to me, but it does. A hosptial in the corner of B-lands is a bad idea. This is my opinion so so don't beat me up about it.
I am not here to argue and bicker or sling mud.
I come here and read now and then but really, this forum thing cracks me up. Some of you folks need to step away from the computer and go clean your rooms! :-D

The following person sure speaks volumes for the County as a whole. I may be the lighening rod here for the issue, but I am not the only one supporting BRMC.

"On page 3 of the August 3-9, 2005 Loudoun/Ashburn Connection, Suzannah Evans reports that the new Farmer's Market in South Riding is wilting due to lack of demand. Right below that article, Ms. Evans reports on the recent Loudoun County Supervisors' denial of the HCA Broadlands Regional Medical Center.
It struck me that the members of the Board of Supervisors who voted against the sorely-needed HCA hospital should pay attention to the first article.
There is simply not yet enough population in the South Riding area to support major commercial or health-care operations. Any organization that built a hospital in the South Riding area today would see it wilt away as well. Ten years into the future will prove a different story, but not today.
Meanwhile the Loudoun Board has squandered a real opportunity to supply Loudoun residents with accessible, available, acceptable, high quality, continuous and cost effective care. The majority's action is short-sighted and detrimental to citizen's health. Supervisor Snow's argument that the new hospital is dangerous to children is unbelievable. I look forward to the day when Loudoun Supervisors are deposed to testify in court regarding the back-room deals, which led to such an uncourageous decision.

I agree with Einstein! AFGM seems to have way too much interest in what is going on in The Broadlands.

Doesn't Ashburn Farms have a forum?

You agree with yourself? I say, report afgm to the sheriff's dept for trespassing on these forums.

I think Einstein just blew his/her cover. Do we have a little dual-personality going on here? Did old Einstein forget who he/she was speaking as?

Guess its time to check the IPs again.

AFGM, since you really want to fight with me, here's another bone: there are only six such markets in Loudoun. Why we have one I don't know, except for the fact that people (who could have been from anywhere) voted in an unsecured quick poll on our web. But we are big enough. Like Cascades. Hmmmm. But of course it is really about the hospital, right? Lack of demand for products supporting the "rural economy" (There is one Loudoun vendor who sells produce. The others sell bread and gourmet dog biscuits. The others are from within the 175-mile radius required for producers to participate. See my letter on the subject on the SR web if you like).

You do spend a lot of time from the Farm in Broadlands pointing at South Riding. Kind of like CNN (the Al Jazeera of the US) spending all day Wednesday and Thursday spending some apparently massive resources to helicopter and boat quite a few clean well-groomed white correspondents around New Orleans to shove mikes in the face of victims and ask "How does it feel to be abandoned by the President because you are poor and black?" for that 24-hour feed.

Nothing like having a symbiotic relationship with trouble.

    Barbara Munsey, from South Riding.
