I would eat at a vegie place. As long as it had spicy items on the menu. Also the prices have to be reasonable. For some reason the vegie places I've eaten had high prices for dishes with ordinary veggies. I'm sure tofu doesn't cost $12/lb.

I don't like Target. Target has horrible return policies. I don't patronize stores that treat customers as if everyone is a criminal.

    Thanks, Carol, jaeris, teak!

We were thinking of a world focus and would like to follow the Boston Market/Chicken Out model of having several options available. There would definitely have to be some Indian dishes and some spicy choices, and I think that the prices need to be reasonable, too. One suggestion that we got early on was to partner with a juice shop. I love Jamba Juice, which started in Cali and has amazing products. We now have one in the area--though its a little bit of a schlep to get to it in Clarendon.

White Castle sliders are far superior to those nasty little Krystals.

I'm all for a Sonic but it would be mighty cold in the winter since you either sit outside or in your car (it's a drive-in for those not familiar). Why not a Jack in the Box while we're at it?

It's a bit of a haul but there's a Long John Silver's (uck poo!) on Rt. 7 in Falls Church. It'll be on your right headed eastbound before you get to Rt. 29.

I've never had a real White Castle, just the frozen ones you can get in the grocery store. In fact, the only place I've ever seen one of their retail places was in Nashville...they're more midwestern but they do have some stores in NYC/NJ.

FYI, Shoppers carries frozen Krystals in addition to the White Castles...but they're not the same without that steamed bun. :(

Hrm, dunno if I'm willing to drive that far to kill myself with deep fried fish, but it's one of those things you get a taste for every now and then. :)

Not much in a Krystals burger except lots of breading and a thin slice of greyish something. Can't call it beef, maybe meat! Biggest rip off. Chicken sandwich and waffle fries aren't bad. White Castle seems to bad a bit more meat even though I once ate something like 10 of them in one sitting in NYC.

Rip off? They're like $.35/ea! :) You get what you pay for I guess, I sure do like them...that steamed bun and onions and the chopped, formed, and pressed 'beef'...mmm :)

Not in New Orleans. I remember paying something like $8-9 for a combo meal for 2 people. My burger was all bread. Fries were good.

In addition to Indian, some of the Afghan and Indonesian vegetarian dishes are so delicious (and I'm not a vegetarian by nature either). Speaking of great juices, lychee soda is one of my favorites!

hmmmm...anyone want to exchange some of their unique recipes -- veg or non-veg?

If I was not going to be leaving the area again shortly, I had given serious thought to opening a business in one of our local plazas -- Global Traditions -- a shop with unique items from around the globe but the twist is that we had also planned to feature regular weekly events such as "how to prepare Japanese high tea"; global food/wine tasting; lectures on carpets; etc. Maybe someone else would run with the concept.

Carol: That's a great concept! Maybe a veggie restaurant mixed with a foreign goods shop and a juice bar would make a profitable venture here!

I hope Chris doesn't accuse you of being in the KKK now... You know, since you've been likened to Hitler and all...

    Why thanks Chris! :)

I miss the juice bars which are so popular in the Middle East and Asia. They've just not caught on here as much yet.

    Best of luck to ya.

Now that you mentioned it... Nah! I will not even go there!

Even getting near the topic of racism is not a place I want to go, especially after the sexism, classism, and other forms of bigotry that have witnessed in these forums.

We eat mostly vegetarian at home. We have one daughter who is actually vegan, and we are supportive of her. Having a place where she could having dining options would be great.

Carol: I definitely think that juice bars are the next Starbucks. We'll see though!
