My family is looking forward to start the pool season. Our only concern is the temperature of the so-called Kids-Pool. Last year even in the heat of the summer sun the pool stayed so cool that my 4-year old started to shiver after a couple of minutes.
I think the sprinklers keep the water so cool!

Is there a chance those sprinkler can be turned of for a couple of hours during the day so the water can heat up?

I'd be surprised if the "sprinklers" are actually providing a significant volume of additional water to the pool. I never looked, but I would assume that the sprinklers, water jets, waterfalls, etc. simply recirculate water that is already in the pool. This would actually have the effect of helping to warm the water in the pool by exposing more water surface area to the warm air.

In addition, I would also assume that the pump that services the sprinklers, etc. is cooled by the water flowing through it. This would also slightly increase the temperature of the pool.

I agree that the pools don't seem to get very warm. I don't know why this is, but I don't think the sprinklers would be a significant cause.

Maybe we should have all the adults pee in the pool. That should warm it up a bit! :D

They do use recirculated water coming from the filters.

I was wondering how much it would cost for a heater to be installed and how the money could be raised any ideas??:)

they could also get things like thermal blankets for the pool, etc. I think its purely a budget thing.. maybe a fundraiser or campaign :)

FYI.. I find the most comfortable pool temperature wise is community center pool.

Its never crowded and the water is warm.

What about using the surplus money that we make every year by selling pool memberships to non-residents?

Or, they could throw a bunch of electric heaters in the pool.

This is being used to provide additional shade features at Summerbrooke and Southern Walk pools, as has been reported in the newsletter.

Pool was freezing this weekend!!! I don't see why we can't do a fundraiser, Summerbrook for sure could use it. What type of cost would it be?

If you heat the pools now in a few weeks everyone will be complaining they are hot. The reason you go to the pool is to cool off......

A heater for the pool. Now there's a mensa use for our dues. Geez, the ocean temp at the shore was 58. Whaddayawant for May with a cool Spring? Swim in your tub if you want a comfy 75.

It is cold now due to the bad weather we had here.

But the point is that it will stay cool throughout the summer. And this is a pool specially designed for kids. I take my kids to the pool so that they can cool off. But I don't want them to freeze after a couple of minutes!!!
And talking about dues: Family with small kids pay them too!!!

There are better uses for HOA dues than to keep your kids warm in less-than-optimal pool weather.

I agree - kids adapt better to cold water than adults I've found. My child would swim in water so cold - his lips would be blue - but he refused to get out. He loved it. And - on a really hot day - that cold water feels great! They'll get used to it...stop trying to create the "perfect" world for them....they'll adjust or get a hot tub....:D

    Some additional information:

The pool memberships do NOT include access to the Summerbrook Pool ... only the Community Center and Southern Walk pools.

Pool heater, whoa whoa whoa. It's going to warm up in a few weeks, the expeses of a pool heater, combined with actually fueling it would be incredible, not to mention a huge waste of HOA dollars. Just wait until mid June, it will be warm by then, probably sooner.

The summerbrook pool is always cold. The other two are fine.

Must be the amount of evaporation or something in that pool requiring extra fresh water be dumped in.. dunno.
