All you people who think the Summerbrook pool will be fine need to jump in sometime in the middle of July. I went several times last year from middle to late summer and lets just say, "Turtleman"! :D

We want to sign our son up for swimming lessons this year at Summerbrook and to be honest, I really do not want to go into THAT cold of water.

I think part of the problem with summerbrooke is that id dosent get as much direct sunlight as the other pools.

The Potomac river was also freezing this weekend!!! The water was to cold to water ski,so if you do a fundraiser or have the HOA pay for pool heaters please include the Potomac river as a group deal so I can water ski in comfort this weekend.

Is summerbrooke the one that has the sprinklers and designed mostly for little kids? How does one get access to this pool if not with the pool pass?

yes, its that pool. Its open to broadlands residents w/normal pool passes. Niel was making the point the pool passes the community sells to non-residents, do not have access to summerbrook.

NIEL - flynnbus is correct! It is I before E except after C. So you are just going to have to change the spelling of your name. :D

Hey Chatty, unless things have changed, go take a dip at ANY time of the year. I'll bet your butt is back on on a lawn chair right quick. :D As far as kids adapting, maybe, I just think they don't know any better. I am no doctor but blue lips and uncontrollable shriving are good for kids?

Think back to when you were a kid... if you ever went to the beach during May thru early July, it was just as cold. I bet you just didn't care ...

First, I can barely remember last year and you want me to think back when I was a kid?! :). Actually, I do remember going to the beach in Mass (visiting grandma) when I was a kid (grew up mostly here) and yes, I did swim. But I did not swim long as I also vividly remember how cold it was. Other than the few times swimming there, I did not go to beaches unless we were on vacation (SOUTH!). And we did not vacation much during the summer months as I was invloved heavily into local baseball.

My kids (and I) both think the pool is too cold. Thats why we don't go to that pool anymore. 20-30mins and the kids can't take it anymore.

I think too many folks have grown up in a southern climate. I found the pool water temperature to be quite refreshing and it didn't slow my kids down at all.

Uh, no, actually, I don't go in if it's too cold! It's called common sense. And I raised my kids to know they have options. If the water's too cold/warm/wet/uncomfortable to their liking...find something else to do and quit belly-aching about it.

MEEEEOWWWW!!! Maybe you need to take a nice relaxing dip and "chill".

If you have never been in the Summerbrook pool, then I suggest you go before commenting. Almost everyone I know that frequents or HAS frequented Summerbrook find it too cold. And based on the number of comments here, maybe the HOA should do something about it, if they can.

    T8erman-
Having been in the SummerBrooke pool numerous times every year and finding the water fine and due to a handful of complaints about the water being cold at the beginning of the season after a cold spring, I doubt the HOA will consider spending tens of thousands of dollars to heat any pool.

I just went to Summerbrook yesterday, it didn't seem too cold at all. I was there for about an hour just before the rain storm/thunderstorm.
