I need to have some roofing and gutter work done and it seems roofer911 is active on the forum. If anyone has used him for roof and gutter work, I would really appreciate some feedback.

He seems very prompt and professional and I like the estimate PDF he sent me by email including ir scan, but a couple of things are holding me back from authorizing the work. First his price seems quite higher than others and second, he has a couple of unresolved complaints on BBB site.

Also, his warranty is only six months (others offered one year).

    I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I ended up authorizing roofer911 (also known as "Improve Today VA, Inc.") to do the repairs. Here is a review of what led to that decision:

I contacted three roofing companies for estimates for shingles that blew off: Apex, Loudoun Valley Roofing and Roofer911.com.

I had a previous experience with Kirk at Apex for a couple of windows that leaked. His repairs did not take and they ended up leaking badly. Although Kirk was difficult to get a hold of for about two weeks, finally with a forum member's help I was able to reach Kirk. He re-did the repairs and did some extra work as a compensation for the damage caused by the leaks.

This time Kirk sent his partner/foreman who gave me a quote of $175 for shingle repair. When asked how the repair will be done, the foreman told me that new ones will be installed on the missing sections. Apex is a Better Business Bureau-accredited company with A rating (5 complaints, all resolved, in the past 36 months).

I also called Loudoun Valley Roofing. A rep told me on the phone that it charges a flat $300 fee for shingle replacement. She was a bit fuzzy on scheduling ("by the end of this week or early next week"). It is also BBB-accredited with A+ rating (2 complaints, all resolved, in 36 months).

Lastly, I called Steven Briesemeister at Roofer911. He came out, looked at the missing section of the roof and also did an infrared scan to spot where there might be additional problems. His scan corrected identified that there is water behind a wall leading to a window (this is a window where I have had on-going minor leak issue). He also found hairline fracture on a stack pipe. His prices were $450 for shingle repair and $325 for stack pipe repair and gutter re-pitching to fix the water leaking down the wall. He sent me by e-mail a proposal with clear photographs. He also told me that work could be done the same day. Roofer911/Improve Today VA, Inc. is NOT BBB-accredited and the BBB site lists two unresolved complaints under its name, with a rating of B.

Considering that his price for shingle repair ($450) is substantially higher than the two other quotes ($175 and $300), one might wonder why I chose to go with Roofer911. There are four reasons. First, he prepared a professional, clearly-written "high-tech" proposal that stated the problems and the actions his crew will take. I like companies that put things in writing. Even better with photographs and e-mail.

Second, he told me that not only would his crew replace the missing shingles, they would also re-seal the surrounding shingles (whose seal is now weaker) with polyurethane to make sure they too would not blow off in the future. I appreciated the attention to detail.

Third, he correctly identified with the help of IR scan an ongoing issue I had been having without being told about it. I don't know how much IR scanning machines cost, but I understand machines need to be amortized into the cost, so if that helps him correctly identify problems, I am willing to pay a higher price.

Fourth, he was able to fix the problem the same day. I knew more winds and rain were coming, so I appreciated the speed of service.

When I e-signed his proposal, he told me his crew would show up no later than 3:30 PM. A crew of three was at my house well before that, did the repairs and cleanup in about two hours. The foreman took some photographs of a couple of additional minor problems he found (missing caulk around vent pipes, etc.) and told me he took care of those problems while he was up there (no additional charge).

Steven also responded to my follow-up questions promptly by e-mail (after I paid).

So far nothing has leaked and no shingle has blown off from the area. I will update if this changes in the future as well as report on my futher dealings with Roofer911.com.

    Here is a quick summary.

Positive: High tech; prompt and clear communication; attention to detail; quick service.

    Negative: High price; not BBB-accredited.

Roofer911 gave me an estimate last year for some roof work. He performed the scan on my roof and also found hairline fractures to the vertical stem and aluminum flange around stack pipe. His quote to fix the stack pipe was $110.

Hi, my name is Steven Briesemeister and I am the owner of Roofer911 (Improve Today VA, Inc.) I just read the message from “jjna” and all I can say is, Wow! I appreciate the great feedback on my company!
I remember your situation very well and I am happy to hear my crew took care of the roof leak problem and treated you with courtesy. I should also mention that roofing contractors have different prices for the work they do for a reason. Some do charge less but unfortunately it’s usually for things like not having proper insurance which gives them lower overhead costs.
The work I do is based on 37 years of experience so it’s tough to even compare what I do with other roofers. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. I was voted best roof repair contractor in the U.S. for Sears/Diamond Exteriors for 6 years in a row.
Roof repairs are all I do, a tremendous amount of them every day. I make sure we put a stop to the leak the first time so you can rest assured the problem is handled. You can go on with your life with no more worry.
You are absolutely correct, we refasten all the surrounding shingles when we repair the ones with damage. Everything gets re-sealed with polyurethane. You can get 80 mph winds and all your other shingles will blow off but ours will stick!
With the infrared scanning we can tell you so far ahead that you’re going to have a problem, it’s fantastic! It can show a year in advance that leaks you don’t even know about are developing into a situation that will end up with some costly water damage.
You can’t compare an average roofer to Roofer911. A troubleshooter is a troubleshooter and a roofer is a roofer. All we do is find the source of a leak and stop it.

I had roofer911 come out a while back in Dec to take a look at a very lousy shingle job that VM did and he did a thermal scan of our house. He was so prompt and responsive with his detailed quote and scan, that I recommended him to two other neighbors who both used him. I decided yesterday I was ready to have the work done, and he got back to me the same day and had his guys out here on Sunday to do the work. They found additional issues which they fixed for gratis. His guys were courteous and responsive. They cleaned up every nail and debris from the work they did. The foreman made sure I was happy. Steve followed up with an email and phone call even though he as on vacation! Very very happy with roofer911. Thought their price was very fair. My two other neighbors have nothing but great things to say about the roofer911 crew.

We had Roofer911 come out to fix some leaks and they wound up doing that and more!

Both Jorge and Steve showed great attention to detail and Steve also came out after the initial estimate to do a infrared assessment that showed us where the leaks where that we couldnt see with the naked eye. Steve worked with us to get the info needed for insurance and once we got the green light, he was there within 24 hours and the work was completed.

Fwiw, I have seen some comments about pricing, but our insurance company thought his estimate was fair for what was being requested.

After the next rainstorm, I'll be back with another review to hopefully say "no leaks", but so far so good!

Steve from Roofer 911 came and inspected a leak that we had. He used an infra-red camera to find out where there were fractures in the window and roof. He even showed us where we were having potential leaking issues due to poor builder construction. He emailed us an estimate within 30 minutes of inspection with details and photos of problems and his recommended solution. Once we gave authorization, he had a crew at our home within the next hour.

Steady showers came that week and no leaks! We highly recommend Roofer 911.

I have to agree with the positive comments about Roofer 911. I called yesterday and Steve stopped by this morning to look at a separated gutter and to answer a few concerns I had regarding my roof. He was very informative and replied with a quote for repairs almost instantly. His team was here within a few hours. I'd have no problems calling them for future work and recommending to others.

Yesterday we called Roofer911 for an attic fan installation. Steve stopped by, discussed the fan and other minor roof repairs. He took pictures, sent a quote by email, we accepted the offer and the Roofer911 crew was there within a few hours. We are quite pleased with the work accomplished, the qualtiy material used and the knowledge and professionalism of the Roofer911 crew. We would highly recommend Roofer911 :2thumbs:

Another update: several weeks ago, we noticed that water had leaked down a gutter/window that Roofer911 worked on earlier. It just so happened that Steve contacted me to check whether the repairs took, so I let him know of it. He was back at the house promptly, looked it over and had his crew out to do some further work (obviously at no extra charge). Since then it rained pretty savagely and I have not seen any leak or signs of leak so far.

So, another positive for a prompt and responsive customer service.

I posted this on another thread, but it's probably more appropriate here:

Well, I just got an attic fan installed by Roofer911 - can't yet comment on the effectiveness of the fan to help cool, as we have had such nice weather the last couple of days, but I can report the following:

    1. Steve was quick to get back to me, very nice, answered all of my questions
    2. He came out, inspected the roof area, and had a written estimate to me within the hour.
    3. I agreed to the estimate, and he had one of his crews out within the next 2 hours.
    4. The crew was efficient, courteous, and had the job completed within an hour. The electrician followed - and Steve worked with me to get him out before an event we had later that afternoon.
    5. The electrician was equally courteous, finished the job, showed me where the controls and fan were located, and how to set the temp threshold.
    6. Steve called me to follow up, make sure everything was fine, and asked if I had any more questions.

This was one of the best contractor experiences we have had. I'll report back on the effectiveness of the fan, but big thumbs up for Roofer911. Highly recommended.

Steve is a true professional and highly credible. He takes ownership of the issue and goes above and beyond in resolving it.

I contacted him for primarily for the window leaks. I have absolutely no issues in recommending Steve to anyone.

    Thanks again Steve !!

After seeing some many good reviews on this forum, I called roofer 911 to take a look at a leak I had in my roof. Steve called me right away and provided a very detailed description of the issue and what needed to be done to fix it. The work was done right away in a very professional manner and Steve followed up afterwards to make sure that everything was satisfactory.

I would also recommend Roofer 911 without any hesitation.

My window that leaked earlier from the gutter above has not leaked since Roofer911 worked on it second time. Mark me as a satisfied customer.

I recently bought another house and will definitely call Roofer911 if I experience any problem there!

We just had Roofer911 out to the house yesterday when I noticed that the trim around the soffit had blown off in the recent storms. In addition to fixing the trim, they also re-attached our loose ridge vents and did additional work on a gutter they had worked on before that still wasn't right. Despite being out of warranty, the gutter work (which now seems to have solved the problem) was done at no additional charge.

As always, Steven and the other workers were highly professional and come with highest recommendation.

Roof attic fans are intended to cool hot attics by drawing in the cooler outside air from soffit and gable vents and pushing hot air to the outside. Also, in order for roof attic fans to work efficiently, we also make sure that the intake vents are not closed and that the home is insulated properly. If you would kindly click on the following links below, I am sure all your questions and or concerns will be answered. Have a wonderful day!

Wow! Awesome job by Roofer 911.

BUT originally called Kirk at Apex last Tuesday. Still no call back. In that time I emailed Roofer 911 based on the reviews posted here. Steve from Roofer 911 called me within 15 minutes estimate the next day. Work performed the next day. Paid for today.

His work was efficient, very professional and fast! Thanks Roofer 911.

Disappointed, APEX. I will stick with Roofer 911!!!! ((:)::
