Its all part of the Rt 28/Waxpool project.

The bridge is setup for 3 lanes, I believe that once they finish the flyover, and have the third lane in place from the bridge to 28, then they will have both sides open as three lanes from 28 to Loudoun Cty Pkwy.

It's rediculous...it's like they're living from paycheck to paycheck or something... just finish the bridge already!! :)

    Neilz-
    A correction-
Saul has never had any role or responsibility in getting the traffic light installed at Broaddlands Blvd/Claiborne.
The Developer was/is responsible for that one. The confusion was between TerraBrook and the county, not Saul.

Thanks ... I confused 'developer' with the shopping center developer, not thinking of Terrabrook.

Did I read somewhere that there was a developers update on Thursday? If so, when and where. Thanks.

So, here we are (almost) four months into the new year. Anything new to report on either of the stop lights? I see no progress being made.

We can only go by what they said at the last update ... we'll ask again at the next HOA Board meeting.

Call Steve Snow. Supervisors usually can push these things along. That is unless he's too busy getting traffic lights for South Riding/South Dulles.

Pfffttt. In his e-mail last fall, he stated that after his inquiries into the matter, the light would be installed in September ('04) and no later than October.

Response was quick but I didn't get any answers:

Thank you for your email. I am disappointed that the signals have not
been installed and the that the date is constantly being pushed back.
The latest date I heard was a February installations but as you can tell
that has not occurred. Apparently there has been issues with the
contractor and the State but I am unclear about the specifics of the
problem. I can tell you that the Claiborne & Broadlands intersection
was scheduled to be installed first. I will have my office contact the
developer today and provide a revised status. Thank you for your
    inquiry.

    Steve Snow

and another email I just received from Mr. Snow's Aide:

Mr. Snow asked me to look into this matter for you and to get you
information on both of those intersections. According to staff, both
signals are being held up by VDOT. For Waxpool and Claiborne the County
has issued a notice to proceed to Brothers Signal to begin the
construction. We have requested a schedule from the contractor.
Brothers is responding to design changes requested by VDOT. On the
Claiborne and Broadlands intersection, VDOT has issues regarding the
marking and signage of the intersections. Revised plans have been
submitted to VDOT and a review is pending. I will let you know when we
receive a schedule and when I am able to nail down a new estimated
    completion date for the signal.

I hope this has addressed your questions. If you have any further
questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.

    Regards,

    Mike Hengemuhle

I've noticed lately that during the evening rush, traffic has been backed up from the Broadlands Blvd/Claiborne Pkwy. intersection to the Greenway underpass! Maybe they'll just wait until it backs up into Ashburn Farm before they install the light.

Anyone know if there are any plans to put a light in front of the Safeway on Broadlands? I thought the 4-Way stops were dangerous, but that intersection makes me feel good that the car is paid off.

In case you haven't been that way ...

the concrete pads, and cable chases for the Waxpool/Claiborne traffic light are being installed this week. Figure 2 to 4 weeks until entire set are installed, not sure if VDOT has to then do something to officially turn it on.

It takes all this for a local government to simply install a stop light?

And we want the Federal Government to manage education, healthcare, etc? You get what you ask for!
