    That's correct, I've been running mail nodes (back in the FIDONET days), message boards, IRC channels, vb communities 10x this size, and corporate sites in various forms for over 20 years now. It's been too long.

    We're are always looking for volunteers for the Tech Committee - come on down and join the team or recruit your inspired friends to come on down and join and help get things done. There is a whole queue of ideas both technical and artistic that the group and community need help with.

    Jakub I fully support our paid career government officials.


    Certainly not an easy job at times especially for the pay.

    I have mostly delt with the building departments not just here and many parts of the world. All were first class that I worked with.

    I can also say the REAL MORONS are homeowners or anyone that finish basements and decks and additions etc. without a building permit and inspections. That is a real Moron in my opinion.

    What does this mean? Most government wages for IT positions are in line with the "commercial" world nowadays Lee.

    Flynn - Last night I was giving you a taste of what my perception of your SOP towards some members of this forum, although this was not the best method there is still some validity to my concerns.

    Calling the IT Dept of LoCo "morons' was out of line and disrespectful to these under-paid IT professionals and civil servants.

    So hears a deal, if you quit your cheap/personal shots (ei my IT background) I'll leave you alone and vice versa. Do we have a deal?

    Eric/Mr. Linux - 4:30PM is a bit early and I am one of those broadlands homeowners who is not involved in the community. Seriously I was out of line "threatening" to have Flynn removed as an Admin and didn't expect that you would kick it up a notch but I understand your reaction.

    I know that the Tech Comm does a ton of things for our community and your efforts are often under appreciated.

    The only open IT job I could find on loudoun's website (BTW, don't search for jobs via google or loudouns site if you want to find them easy!.. site map is easiest) is

    Hiring Range: $57,887 - $98,407

    For a programming team manager. Kind of weak for a manager looking for masters equivalent or higher.

    'civil servants' - should we put them on a higher pedestal because they work for the local government? They are sacrificing for our greater good? They work there because is a job with probably solid benefits and pay they will accept. This isn't like a Police or Fire working for less because they have a personal motivation to serve or protect.

    This move was a MAJOR booboo if this is your career. That's what this thread is about. And as a citizen of the county, its been seriously affecting my ability to find the information I want from my government. So yes, I'll call the guy out. Their lack of proper methods and thoroughness is affecting the services they offer. The point of IT is to support and advance the business through competitive edge. Here, IT is FAILING. Rolling out changes in such a destructive way is NOT the way you run a high profile site relied upon by thousands of users.

    Living with search engines is a way of life on the net these days and anyone publishing content needs to be aware and embracing how these engines interact with your site.
