we've given Sal's plenty of chances since it took over for whatever was there before---can't believe i can't remember...as soon as Rubino's open--haven't been back to Sal's since. It was good when there wasn't an alternative. Now i'm happy to pass it on my way to Rubino's! I know it's all a matter of preference though...so it's okay if you prefer Sal's....you're just wrong :)

Emilio's on Shaw Road is the best. I haven't been to the one in Landsdowne but I'm from NY and their cheese pizza is great. Thin, good sauce, and just the right amount of cheese.

Wow, really? Thanks for setting me straight. For everyone who has had both, how many have actually had real NY pizza?

Is it typical of places offering pizza by the slice to take a piece that has been sitting on the counter for a long time and put it in the oven for a customer? I'm not sure how they do it at Sal's but when I was at Rubino's they used a piece that looked cold and greasy to warm in the oven for a customer. That didn't seem appetizing for me but is that just the way it's done?

Everywhere I've been around here does it that way (Pomodoro's, Tony's in Fairlakes, Scotto's in Brambleton, etc). How else would they be able to sell pizza by the slice?

Yeah, I know it's a practical thing but I don't want to get the last piece of the one that sat there for two hours, you know?

If they have any kind of quality control they'd throw it out well before the two hour mark and have a fresh one ready.

That's how it's done in the true NY pizza places in NY. We ate at Sal's today. I have to say it's the closest I've had to REAL NY pizza. I'm not talking some chain pizza place in Manhattan. I mean, real, borough pizza. Sorry, as I've said before I know the owners of Rubino's, but Sal's is real NY pizza and is the best I've had outside of NY.

    The three best places are:

#1 Fireworks Pizza (easily the best in the area)
    #2 Manhattan Pizza
    #3 Ledo's Pizza
    #4 Z's pizza

The THREE best? You listed 4 and even numbered them. haha.

Ledo's? Not even anywhere close to what what true (or good) pizza is.

I have to say I tried Emilio's (near Belfort Furniture) a few weeks ago and it was excellent! I still like Manhattan the best, but Emilio's didn't disappoint.
