Even though the chances of predicting who will win tonight are 50/50, after last night's show, I'm not going to try and guess. However I felt Carrie came across as much more powerful last night than Bo although both of them had some off moments and notes!

What a show!!!!! That was amazing to watch Bo performing with Lynrd Sknryd ... wow! And Carrie was so strong and powerful in all of her song selections again. I liked the way all of the top 10 were featured in songs with prominent musicians - that was a great touch. In my view, there were no losers last night.

I've lost all my respect for Kenny Wayne Shepherd...he had so much promise when he was 18. :(

Yeah but if you're not totally mainstream and want to be seen & heard by a new crowd...where better to go? Kinda kitchy but in this day and age what isn't?

Well, he was the heir to Stevie Ray Vaughan's throne back in 97-98. Then he got mixed up in drugs/alcohol (like SRV), cleaned up (like SRV), and released an attrocious 'out of recovery' album (unlike SRV...I'm relistening to it currently, it's not all that bad, but it's no "In Step"). There's still hope for him, but I believe the torch has been passed to Joe Bonamassa at this point.

Plus, he was underutilized as far as exposure goes. They brought him in to play the most basic of guitar riffs (Walk This Way) and his guitar was way down in the mix so you couldn't hear what little solo work he did. Very frustrating.

If all this is greek to you, then you're missing out on some fantastic music. :)

Joe is excellent...if you like electric/texas blues at all, you should check him out. Unreal guitar player and has a great voice. Check out "Blues Deluxe" and "A New Day Yesterday Live".

Do you have the Arc Angels record Brim? If you like SRV
you would certainly like it. I also like Johnny Lang alot.
Both are bluesy rock in the SRV tradition.

Yep, I have that CD. I met (and got a picture with) Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton after a Storyville show in Austin once, really nice guys although Chris Layton looks pissed in the picture. I'm a huge SRV fan...even built a replica of #1, it's just not beat to hell yet.

If you like Arc Angels, try out Doyle Bramhall II & Smokestack (he was the frontman), Storyville (the band Double Trouble after Arc Angels), Kenny Wayne's early stuff, Indigenous (tribal Indian blues band, they rock), Scott Holt, Chris Duarte (he was on his way to greatness before depression sidetracked him...his first album, "Texas Sugar/Strat Magik" is outstanding), and the aforementioned Joe Bonamassa. Some other (smaller) names to check out are Anson Funderburgh, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Roben Ford, and Susan Tedeschi.

If you can't tell, this is a subject that strikes a nerve with me. :) Any recommendations are welcome.
