Off the top of my head, pretty much all sports with the exception of baseball, football, basketball and lacrosse (american indians) originated from non-"north" America cultures.

Baseball is an offshoot of cricket and football is an offshoot of rugby and soccer. So in reality it really is only basketball and lacrosse.

My vote is for a cemetery.

I mean really, what resident doesn't want his/her final resting place to be in this beautiful community?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe we follow it up with a good game of lawn darts?

No, no. It's true, I 've seen Terman grab a beer and take a seat at the same time. He's truly a master!

I'll be the wet blanket here: Leave the land as is, no bulldozing and no trees lost.

Oh! I Second this idea! It's something that would make Broadlands unique and further emphasize the relationship between Broadlands and nature.

    Great idea!

Ok, I'm calling your bluff. Where did you hear these rumors from? Where can one find any information on this?

Or is this once again, something out of your imagination?

Should be used for a large playground (like the dino park recently mentioned). The HOA should offer BRMC to pay for a % of the yearly upkeep fee and put up a vote accordingly to the residents to increase fees for the remainder. It should be themed for nature (no ambulance riding junk or similar) but should allow for tasteful advertising by BRMC. It would also require a small parking lot (20-30 cars) and path for walking/riding to/from the location connecting to our walking paths.

I'm thinking along the same lines here. Flicks In the Sticks comes to mind, as well as Broadlands Live! While the latest, greatest, largest new playground is an enticing idea, please keep in mind not every family in Broadlands has kids. It would be nice if the area could be potentially utilized by everyone. There, that's as controversial a post as you'll get out of me. [IMG]

bball, handball, kickball or an area for kids too old for jungle gyms would be great along with a tot lot style equip. for those who have a 4 year old, a 10 year old and a 35 year old boy in the family- it's a one stop shop for fun! lol

Not to sound critical... but have any of you ever noticed the one of these just off Reston Parkway. Not that it isn't a great community asset but they seem pretty unattractive and probably not something the hospital wants in front of them. Just a thought.

I vote for leaving the trees in place. Ashburn has enough areas where the trees are ripped down. Although it is possible to have a play area and trees it just seems that Ashburn developers aren't very good at that.

I think I meet you guys at Nagoya one night! All I remember is discussions of Beer Pong and the whole neighborhood being in your garage!

Anyways, I like this idea... My old neighbors had beer pong in there garage at our townhouse and wow at 1am what I wouldn't have given for a pavillion where they could have been instead :pofl:
