As an FYI...the "unnamed" road at the 4-way is actually Mooreview. You turn left at the stop sign off Wynridge onto Moorview. When you hit that other 4-way stop Mooreview changes to Ashburn Village Blvd & if you turned right, that's Old Ryan Road. I do this a couple times a day so I have the street names memorized.

Food Lion is a joke and overpriced and I don't know how it stays in business either. I can't figure out what market they are going after and the place is always empty. It was the second grocery store built in the area after shoppers which was something else when first opened which I can't remember the name at the moment.

Super Fresh is a division of A&P .. along with Farmer Jack, Food Emporium and Waldbaums. http://www.aptea.com/index.asp

I just think they pulled out of the area.

I've never set foot in Food Lion either....at least in this area...when we vacation in OBX - that's the only grocery store in the Corolla/Duck area, at lease until the new Harris Teeter store opens there to give Food Lion competition.

Maybe the cashier scanned mine twice? I guess it must have been my lucky day. That's too bad I was hoping that was the norm. sigh

Since everyone was talking about coupons in this thread I wanted to tell you about the Grocery Game. It is a way to save lots of money on your grocery bills. I've been doing it since the end of summer and I've cut my grocery bill by 50-60%.

Basically what the grocery game does is match grocery store sales to coupons to get the rock bottom price. They keep track of all the sales and all the coupons over the past several months that aren't expired. (Which means you have to keep and file your coupon fliers) You get a list every week of your grocery store (in this area they do Giant, HT and Food Lion).

Here's a few examples from HT from this past Sunday.

Pepcid AC Reg. price $3.49, sale price $1.34, $1 cpn from 3/5. Final price $.34

Kraft Cheese Crumbles reg price $2.99, sale $1.69, $1 cpn from 2/19, final price $.69

My list from HT, which is the one I use the most, is usually 5-10 pages long of deals. They also have unadvertised specials that normally we wouldn't know about unless we happen to see it in the store by trolling every isle.

The idea is to stockpile when there are really good prices like this. So, I have an extra freezer and have some shelving in my garage and store stuff in my extra bathroom upstairs.

My grocery bill used to be over $1000 month (which included Costco). Now it's about $400. Whatever yours is, you can probably cut it in half.

By the way, if you're suspicious, I don't work there or work for them, I just love saving money.

Go the www.thegrocerygame.com. for more info. They have a 4 week trial you can do for $1. If you decide to try it, put my email as a referral please as I get credit for referring people and free weeks. My email address to use is loriseidmeyer@marykay.com.

One final thing, it does take some extra work on your part, like 1/2-1 hr week to go through your list and coupons.

Email me if you have any other questions.

Check the Safeway expiration dates..we've been burned there a few times. Wegman's is a nightmare - too crowded and too big! I'm looking forward to Harris Teeter.....wish we could get a Trader's Joe!

I heard a while ago that Trader Joe's were planning to open a store out in Loudoun Cty. Haven't heard anything since then. I love that store...wish they would open one around here.
