VACLIFF: I never considerate any your comments worthless. I'm sorry that you feel that way about those of anyone on here, including me. These forums are for expression of ideas, not just ideas that you may agree with... Personally, I don't think any less of you due to you endless attacks on me and everyone who does not support your buddlies and good-time pals at HCA.

Looking at the stats that you posted about the election, are you saying that only about 160 people voted in the HOA elections? How can you continue to claim that the HCA/HOA survey was "worthless" when the participation rate was DRASTICALLY greater?

Also, we have never met to my knowledge, but I am flattered that you think that I am an intelligent and consider person.

Well, if according to Chris, they have never met, I assume Cliff mixed up a face with a name. Therefore, Cliff you can easily withdraw your "intelligent, considerate person" comment. :D

    Chris post:

    chris-
"worthless" is your word, not mine, and I never used that word in connection to the survey. You did. You apparently don't read the posts, but try to twist them into more inflammatory terms.

I have explained in the previous post the point that I don't consider my re-election or the survey a mandate. But since you don't want to let it go, how about this......The number of votes greater that I received in the election (70-80ish) is greater than the difference between those that didn't support the hospital to those that did (39). Hmmm.....maybe it is a mandate. Thanks for pointing it out!!!!!!! (just kidding).

regarding having met- Are you not the Chris I met at the candidate's forum I conducted last fall? A woman came up to me and introduced herself as Chris, and commented on the forums. She also told me that she has never voted for a republican before, but was going to vote for Steve Snow. I have made this point in the forums, which you have acknowledged. If you aren't the same Chris, then I must admit it is an amazing coincidence. There were only about 10 people in the audience I didn't know. For there to be 2 Chris's, both of whom participate in the forums, and both of whom were going to support a republican candidate for the first time, out of 10 people there is a big coincidence.
If it's not you, I apologize for making a reference assuming I met you and made a judgement of your character.

Chris, HOW can you live in a community where nothing seems to please you??? BoS, Republicans, HOA, possible HCA hospital, speeders, lack of a sit down bar :)-))...

VACLIFF: I hate to breka it to you, but "Chris" is a common name. Heck, it's even given to boys and girls. =-) I find it no great pity that we have not met.

T8: We love life in the Broadlands. I just believe that it's possible for it to be even better, not worse. People like VACLIFF are doing their best to destroy our quality of life. You're not one of the bad guys, though.

    All this talk...

Cliff is at the same place each month.. readily available :) (aka HOA meetings)

And for all the complainers.. feel free to run in the HOA election to do something about things.

At least Cliff puts effort into more then just typing about his ideals and work for the community.

    Chris,

You're out of line on these forums! People like Cliff, and the other volunteer HOA Board members, are willing to put up with people like you to serve our community. If you think you can do a better job and help "our quality of life," why don't you volunteer to server on the Board or at least place your name on the ballet? Since you obviously have some ideas, right or wrong, about how this community should be run (or not run), volunteer to serve on the Board. However, please identify yourself as "Chris" on the ballet so I'll know who not to vote for...

Cliff, I'm not sure I follow you. First you say your election was a "mandate" for the hospital. Then you say you never said your election was a mandate. What's your final answer?

In your last quote you also mentioned that "a majority</u> of the residents did not respond." I believe your estimate was about a 20% participation? On this basis the survey was discounted. You received 120ish votes nearest competitor 40...I believe there was another candidate...let's round up...say 200 people voted. What percentage of eligible participants does that represent? The election is valid but the survey isn't?

Are there any ground rules for making decisions around here or am I to assume voting on any future issues to be a waste of my time?

Cliff, just a few more items I'd like some clarification on. There have been a few statements that I believe aren't supported by facts. Please enlighten us vis-a-vis the following:

Are you implying that the Board of Supervisors' (BoS) plan to equitably distrubute vital infrastructure so ALL Loudoun residents will have access to things like medical care, is actually a nefarious Rube Goldbergian conspiracy to deny HCA's psychiatric ward in Broadlands? Wouldn't it have been a whole lot easier for the BoS to deny HCA's Special Exception request and be done with it?

Why the hyperbolic alternatives to the "hospital" being located on the on the proposed area? I though that area was like 40-50 acres. You say "five to seven 7 story office buildings." On what do you base this? I see no development along the Greenway remotely resembling that. But your last line....really...bravo..."the property completely stripped and clear cut with parking lots."

How would the hospital strip the land any less than an office building? You believe they're going to leave land undeveloped and unused? Property is expensive, you buy it then use it..and they will. Please don't refer to any drawings the hospital may have shown. "Illustrative purposes only"....or better yet..."An Illustrative Glitch" (reference to HCA reps describing HCA's overbilling fraud as "accounting glitches") Take a look at Reston Hospital for a reference. They recently cut down the last of the trees in the back when they expanded. In contrast, I would point out that I work in a beautiful office building on a nice campus that's fully landscaped and maintained. We even bbq outside in the summers and play volleyball, basketball and horseshoes. The only downside is it's pretty empty on weekends and holidays..and I guess the lack of helicopters, ambulances, incinerators and the various and sundry accoutrements of the Psychiatric Hospital would make for a dull, boring place.

    coopstar-
As I have said now in a few posts, I DO NOT consider the election a mandate, just as, as a group (not just me) did not consider the survey results a "mandate".

My comment about no hospital being built if this one is defeated is an opinion. The legal process of the "special exception" would not allow the BOS to simply say no to the proposal. The special exception is to ensure any land use issues are approriately resolved before final approval is given. If all these conditions were met, approval could not legally be denied.

The land is 57 acres. I have copies of the marketing plan by TerraBrook that shows the site developed with the office buildings I mentioned. It also shows the property stripped from end to end with parking lots. This is a fact and I'd be happy to show it to you.
I have copies of the most recent site plan of the hospital, which I'd also be happy to show you. It preserves far more open space that the office park, even after all possible expansions. Part of the reason is that there will be a parking garage built rather than relying on all ground level parking. Also, the "special exception" process can require that certain areas of the site be preserved. The county staff has already brought up this issue in their initial review of the project.

There will be no incinerators at the hospital. This is a fact. None have been applied for and, since changes in air quality regulations, they are prohibitively expensive to operate. I'm fairly certain there are none operating in the Virginia. You may refer to a 164 bed hospital with 40 beds for juvenile mental health services a "Psychiatric Hospital", but I don't.

No, there are no "ground rules" on making decisions. As far as decisions concerning the HOA, there are 7 (soon to be 9) members of the HOA Board that make decisions. I am one of the 7. Feel free to not answer any surveys or questionaires if you do not want to. If you want your vote to count, run for the HOA Board next month.

    chris-
Well, I guess then I'm glad you aren't the person I met.
If I could destroy your quality of life, that would probably be a good thing. The tone and ideas of most of your posts are frankly kind of scary.
But continue your good fight as the self-described "LHC cheerleader".
It shows your bias to being against anything that will provide them competition and illustrates the ridiculousness of your objections.
Are you going to run for the HOA Board to stop me from continuing to try and ruin the quality of life in Broadlands? Or, as I suspect, do you prefer to make your comments under the cloak of anonymity. Heaven forbid people knew who the person was that spouts the things you do.

Thank you for the two most recent posts, GCyr and VACLIFF. They both stand as perfect examples of how you two comrades in arms continue to ridicule and bash ANYONE who has an honest concern or question about your beloved HCA.

VACLIFF and GCyr, I also think that your allegation that I need to run for the HOA Board is insulting. Are you saying that anyone who does not serve on the Board cannot have an opinion? Are you saying that because you two are associated with the HOA that your opinions hold more value? The last time I checked my household was a full-fledged property-owner in this development, and my vote is equal to yours. Also, I don't think that either of you has managed to completely gut the first amendment yet, so I can voice my thoughts if I want to.

Your allegation that anyone who does not serve on the HOA is not allowed to have an opinion shows the contempt that you have for the HUNDREDS of Broadlands households with homeowners who choose to live here but not serve on the HOA. What pompous arrogance!

My advice to anyone new to this forum: Don't dare speak what's on your mind, or GCyr and VACLIFF will be the first to shove a fist down your throat...unless, of course, you are serve on the HOA.

Chris, you are a piece of work! Please keep up the entertainment. I find your prose, beyond amusing, and entering the realm of absurd. The shrapnel from your forum diatribes is great insight into your true character.

How do you find my recommending that you run for the HOA Board insulting? I never said that you had to run for the Board in order to express your opinion, nor do I or anyone else to express our opinions-- just that if you have ideas on how to improve the "quality of life" that's one way to go about doing it. And, I am not associated with the HOA Board but I am a member of the HOA and the hospital task force.

GCyr: Both you and VACLIFF have made it clear on numerous occassions that you think that the only people who have the right to have opinions are those who share your own views about HCA and its plans to destroy this community as it is. Also, you alledged that anyone who does not join your "HOA club" does not get to have an opinion that counts. Come on -- the VAST majority of people do not serve on the HOA. What is insulting is that you think that all of those people's views do no count!

Also, there are many ways to fight the blight and travesty that HCA has planned for our lovely community. Don't assume, just because I don't join your little "HOA club," that I am not working on the issue from another angle. ;)

On a personal note, we had to take our son to the LHC ER yesterday. 5.5 hours later we finally left. It is not fun trying to entertain a 1 year old for that long. The attending physician said the following, "Your son picked a bad time to get hurt, we can hardly handle the patient load in the ER during the summer months".

I WANT ANOTHER HOSPITAL and I would prefer it close by. I do not care if it is HCA or LHC or whomever. WE NEED MORE OPTIONS for our growing population!

Oh, so some may also attack this post - Republican, Democrat, HOA, BoS, speeding, religion, MAttress Discounters, ABC store... Can't type them all in folks, my fingers would start to bleed!

You know, you do not have to run to the ER every time you son gets hurt or has an ear infection.
That is one of the reasons ERs are so backed up. 2/3's of the people do not need emergency care.
I know, I worked as a nurse in an ER for two years...
There are plenty of places you can go when your child is ill or sick and your regular doctor is not available.
Emergency rooms are for EMERGENCIES. So next time you complain about being in the ER for 5 hours think about all of the other people that had your idea. You get what you deserve.
We dont need a hospital here in B-lands b/c this is the wrong place for a hospital -- not in a neighborhood. There are plenty of places for a hospital in Loudoun County and the only reason HCA wants to build here is because this is where they think they will get a good run for the money. It is poor planning for Loudoun County.
:-/ I dont care really -- we are moving in 2-3 years and I just dont care.
