Trying to play catch up.....all free garbage cans should be delivered to all Boradlands residents by today. If not, we need to call New Vision directly? call the HOA?

    New Vision directly ... 703-830-7908.

    And townhouse residents please note:

With our previous contractor, it would have cost you an additional charge over and above the normal monthly cost to have a toter. New Vision is supplying toters (in 3 different sizes) at no additional cost to you.

So why did SFHs get free toters, did they pay more in garbage fees, i think that was it. Anyway it would make more sense for those THS who do NOT want the toter to call rather then those that DO. There are alot of folks in my neighborhood who do not know TO CALL! NV should just deliver them!

Apparently there are people in the neighborhood who don't even know we switched - their garbage was out for Tuesday, or recycling today. I wondered why there wasn't an actual letter about the switch, since I have the feeling it might have been read by more people. I guess there are people that don't even read the front of the newsletter (or don't communicate with their cohabitants).

HOA folks: Are there any plans for a follow-up? I know the cost probably isn't worth it...

Do you want the HOA to call Miss Utility for you before you dig? We wouldn't want you to be inconvenienced.:rolleyes2:

...or read the signboards coming into the community :)

The emphasis really needs to be made somewhere that the newsletter is the primary 'distribution' point of news.. rather then individual mailings. I guess some don't realize it.

I dunno, I think there is a huge lack of information getting out to most of Broadlands [not HOAs fault tho]. I think people are too busy to read the mailer and what signboards? I really don't remember seeing them, guess I don't go by them.

Anyway, I use the forum for main point of information, but I doubt that 10% of Broadlands residents even come here. Maybe put the url on the signs coming into here. It's the 21st century, everyone ought to be coming to the website for info, thats what its for, right?

Don't forget the apparent large number of people (based on the comments on these forums) who received mailings regarding ArmstrongConnect and simply threw them away without realizing they were throwing away their login information as well.

Seems to me that having the information disseminated in the newsletter, on the signboards, and on the forums is enough notice. Some people are never going to get it, so for a week they don't get their trash picked up. Their fault, not the HOA's...

The trash company change and information WAS ON THE FRONT COVER OF THE LAST TWO NEWSLETTERS!!!!!!!!
The newsletter is our avenue to get information to residents. A separate mailer costs thousands of dollars, and guess what we're told when we have sent out a mailer? "Gee, I thought it was junk mail and threw it out."

Maybe if Cliff and Neil and the other board members had walked door-to-door and stuck a post-it note on everyone's front door. Or placed personal phone calls to each house.

    Please. :rolleyes2:

Only if they were holding hands skipping to each house...Seriously - it's our responsibility to be an informed resident of the community, the HOA gave numerous and ample cause/notification prior to the change.

eventually responsibility for your own comes into play :)

I do like homer's idea of putting the URL on the signage tho! Slight challenge to that right now is the split between the home owner's site (this one) and the developers (van meter)

True, but having to call about the totes is only online. Do my neighbors have to wait for the next newsletter to find out? My point is that this information changes so rapidly, print alone can't keep up. This is why NV should just deliver the totes, those that don't want them or want different ones call NV, isn't that the original plan any way? Why did the game plan change in mid game?

thats my opinion too homer.. but I haven't chased anyone on the topic because it hasn't bothered me as of yet.

The story originally was some TH owners were rejecting them? No clue, but how many could they have tried? I've seen nothing in my section in terms of trashcans/bins. But like I said, its not urgent to me so I'm just lying low waiting for it all to stabalize and see if something shows up and if not.. take what the recommended action is after that.

and the signboard I was refering to was the one between the greenway and broadlands bvld on the west side of claibourne. I think there is another near the community center.. I don't know if/where any are in the south section. I never drive down there.

Yeah, I have no idea where the signs are. I've lived here for 5+ years so that says something about the signs and the way info is gotten out.

I have not seen one toter or recycle bin either. Earlier in this thread someone said people started refusing the totes thats why we have to call. I don't mind calling, if I don't have to play phone tag, jump through hoops and have to be at home from 8AM-8PM to get one. Then its seems like NV doesnt want me to have one.

NV should just deliver the trash cans to everyone and then set a later date to pick up any that are unwanted. What a pain this has become!

Well, the toters and recycle bins never arrived yesterday as promised! I called them at 9AM this morning (again) and no call back and we've been home all morning. This is what is irritating about having to do the calling when they should just be delivered. It's a game of phone tag...just because some TH refused the toters?

And lets just say for giggles, that NV's main function is to collect trash and that they couldn't pick up the unwanted trash bins for a couple/few weeks (just like AAA). Where do you think most of these trash bins will sit, especially in townhouses, while waiting to be picked up? Yep, you guessed it, in the driveway, yard or other place they should not be.

In a post from yesterday, you said "they would try and deliver". NOW your using the word "promise". So, what is it? Did they PROMISE or not?
