Yes! Loudoun's idea of a park seems to be a soccer field. When we lived in Vienna we had multiple parks within a couple miles including the incredibleMeadowlark Gardens. Eastern Loudoun really only has Algonkian Park which is nice but we should have smaller parks in the rest of the east that have water, fields, picnic areas and include bathrooms. My daughter plays soccer and I am all for fields but it would be great if we had a few more parks nearby.

I still want a nice, nearby leather shop... a place where I can take shoes, bags, coats, etc for repair or cleaning instead of taking things to a dry cleaner for them to ship out.

A Nut-Free Bakery. Where you can go for croissants in the morning (never touched equipment used for nuts), sandwiches in the afternoon (no cuts, no buts....and no-no nuts), and pick up an easy and reasonably priced cake or pie for the party you are headed to in the evening (nut-free!!! no nut ever breathed on this pan!).
How many people here would frequent a shop like that? How many people here have a nut allergy or know someone close that does?

Nothing like a chili dog and hot ham and cheese sandwich from Hardee's with a shot of simvastatin for dessert!!

    gb10 and others--

Although it is NOT located in Ashburn, there is a great shoe repair, leather and luggage repair store in Sterling. It is called Countryside Shoe and Luggage Repair store. They have been located in Sterling area for over 15 years. They repair shoes, luggage, and leather products. Handbags with great repairs for replacement handles and zippers. They also carry Red Wing Shoes. Prices are fair and great customer service. Just like an "old-fashioned shoe cobbler".

The owners of Countryside Shoe and Luggage Repair also have another store located at Sugarland Crossing Shopping Center. The owner at Sugarland Crossing is the brother to the owner of Countryside Shoe Repair store. Web site for Countryside Shoes is below. Great prices and service. Located next to Hair Port Salon at Countryside Shopping Center. The owners can tell you where to have custom shoes made for yourself if you are interested.

    www.countrysideshoeandluggage.com (Countryside Shoe and Luggage Repair's site/info.)

While you are at Countryside Shopping Center, check out Delia's Pizzeria and Grill. Great prices.

If you wish the name of a good butcher for local Grassfed and Hormone-free meats or just an "old-fashioned" butcher, just let me know. We have Dexter cattle which is a dual-purpose breed for their meat and dairy. I can let you know of a local butcher or some farms where you can purchase farm-fresh meats, poultry, and game.

We have hogs, pigs, and poultry as well as the Dexter cattle on our farm. If any of you are interested, just PM me and I will provide local farms for you to buy "farm direct". Alot of the butchers are not listed with Loudoun County Cooperative Extension. Also, I can point you in the direction of a Mennonite butcher/farm for fresh meats also.

    Have a good night--

    Foodie;)

In N Out, yum! We do agree on something Lee! On that note I think there is something to be said for not having everything immediately available. I find I need something to look forward to when traveling especially when it's an undesirable work trip. Plus having some level of "want" is healthy.

There use to be JITBs in the area long ago. There was one in Sterling Park for several years.

Carls Jr! Their Western Bacon Cheeseburgers are the best... We could be their 1st east coast location.

They have been creeping back to the East in recent years. Did they close shop around here because of the salmonella poisoning years back? My home state Louisiana had none as recently as 10 years ago and now has about 20. According to their web site, NC/SC/TN have over 50 stores now. Personally between Carls Jr and JITB, I prefer Carls Jr. I know Hardee's and Carls are the same company and have similar menus, but am I the only one who find the food in reality is totally different with Hardee's not nearly as good?

But since Hardee's and Carls are the same company, I am skeptical that they'd mix the two in the same region. I think best case they'd get more in sync in the actual food which is good enough.
