I agree with Trader Joes and/or Whole Foods. A Michael's, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby would be nice to be closer and a Bed Bath & Beyond and some clothing stores would be good too. Oh, and Chick Fil A....would lllloooovvveeeee for them to be in Ashburn!

FWIW- if Home Depot would actually be of service, keep things in stock, etc, it'd be nice to use them since they're so close but we avoid them at all costs!

Yep you are right about them being out of things. Most of the time I just go to Lowes and be done with it.

There is going to be a new center on LCP that has been delayed repeatedly that will have many of the things you want. Does not look that it will be built anytime soon.

Of course they are building a new center right now on LCP and Ryan and guess what it is going to have??? a new Harris Teeters. ha ha ha

That is what we need a new Harris Teeter on every corner.
Here is a link to many of the centers that are and may be built in the near future.

I love the idea of furniture consignment store. Frilly Frocks is a store for kids clothing consignments & has just started taking women's clothes as well. I'd love to see them take more brands (Old Navy/Circo..) but I know they don't have the space.

Lee, I totally agree. We avoid Home Depot totally. After going there many times only to find that they are sold out, we just head straight to Lowes.

I'm probably the only one but I would love to see an indoor rock climbing gym like Earth Treks or SportRock.

Yes, it is when you have to face Waxpool traffic or travel down roads with 4 way stop signs that back up. AC Moore is more of what I consider Leesburg than Ashburn. It's not convenient for me at all when I need to just pick up a few cake supplies and it's 40+ minutes round trip in the car.

I'm confused - AC Moore *is* in Ashburn, not Leesburg. It's on Ashburn Village Blvd., which is definitely not Leesburg.

40+ minutes???? To AC Moore in Ashburn????? What route do you take? It certainly doesn't take 40+ minutes from Broadlands!!! Just go down Claiborne to right Glouster (where the new Walgreens is) make a left on Ashburn Village, follow that to where the shopping center is with AC Moore. I've made in 15-20 minutes.....

I've lived in Ashburn for 28 years and when Safeway opened in Countryside, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven - no more driving to Leesburg or Dranesville to buy groceries!

But anyway - I'd like to have a kitchen or restaurant supply store. When Kitchen's, Etc. went out of business, it left a void. I'd love a Penzey's spice store: http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/shophome.html
They have stores in Falls Church and Rockville. The Falls Church store is pretty easy to find right on Rt. 7, but Falls Church is pretty far. Still, not a bad Saturday morning trip. Fractured Prune donuts are still supposedly coming to Loudoun - one in Leesburg and on in Dulles Loop (wherever that is): http://fracturedprune.com/locations.php.

AC Moore is definitely Ashburn. Now, if you were driving to Ben Franklin in Leesburg, that would definitely be, well, in Leesburg!

She did say round trip. :D

Remember folks, most of the big box stores need to be centrally located off a major artery to stay in business. Sure it would be nice to have EVERY possible business located in Broadlands so we can drive .004 miles to get something we need. ;)

That would make it 30-40 roundtrip ...not counting the parking, shopping and standing in line at the register

    Charlotte and others--

Thanks, Charlotte, for the "plug". Actually, our web-based business should be "up and running" within a few months. By the way, if you wish to order beforehand, PM and I will give some some "FREE" products of what we will be featuring on our web site business.

For example, baked goods, fritters, pies, cookbooks, etc. We want to "introduce" our product line and give "FREE SAMPLES" . Anyone up for a "Taste Test" at the Community Center or Nature Center?

Post interests on thread under "Area Restaurants..." called "Opinions of Opening a Amish/Mennonite Cafe/Restaurant?...".

Thanks; and I will contact Maureen about using or paying to use the Nature Center or Community Center room for a "Taste Test".

    Foodie;)

I would just like to see some of those stores more on our end than Rt. 7. That's all. I used to live in Arlington and I like having the convenience of having things .004 miles from where I live, which is also why we bought our home in the location it is--near a future metro and shopping (Moorefield Station). :)

Ha ha ha! Now if you lived in Ashburn Village like me, you *would* be pretty centrally located for Ashburn/Leesburg/Sterling! :p

if you drive like i do, 40 minutes of:
    - listening to sirius satellite talk radio
    - peace and quiet with no one bothering you for anything
    - time to enjoy the car i pay dearly for every month
    - time away from the forum so i don't develop carpal tunnel syndrome
    - a chance to appreciate the neighborhood i chose to raise my kid in
    - time to scream 70's & 80's rock at the top of my lungs with no one to cover their ears and beg for mercy (she was a fast machine she kept her motor clean!)

and, i would much rather see NEW and DIFFERENT businesses come her, not the same business 3 miles closer... just my 2 cents!

I think I remember reading that there is one in the works, near Beaumeade. There is a proposed indoor shooting range there. I saw the public hearing or zoning change request in one of the local papers. Don't have much more info than that.
