We are planning to enroll our son(15mons) in the Children's World Center, Ashburn (just opposite to the Broadlands Community Center). Does anyone have their children enrolled in the center? Any feedback will help. Thanks.

There is a thread about CW from last year. They had some issues, don't know if they were fixed.

I have never used CWC but my son did spend one year at Golden Pond- behind the Food Lion on Ashburn Village Rd- and it was fantastic. If you are still shopping around I recommend checking them out- caring teachers, clean facility, good security, wonderful learning atmosphere... I couldn't be happier with my son's Kindergarten experience there. He still goes back in the summer for sports camp.

    Good luck!

    Ciao,

I've never heard anything positive about them and plenty of negative. My kids don't go there and never have, just letting you know what I've heard.

My sons went there for a very short time for after-school care and I pulled them from the center. Read the historical messages on this board and "stop in" often at the center. We have found that with child care, you truly do get what you pay for (and CW is one of the least costly -- not to say by any means it is cheap).

Here's my 2 cents fwiw. Our son has been there for a year, and we're transferring him to Bean Tree (there goes all our $ [:0]) We loved the teacher in his room (infant), but we're pulling him because we had serious concerns about the teacher in the room he would be transferring to.

Most of the other concerns were just knit-picky I guess. The organization level is pretty bad- socks, bibs, etc. go missing or you might end up with another child's stuff. I can't tell you how many pairs of socks and bibs we've lost. Keep good track of everything. This may not affect you since your son will probably be transferring out of the infant room soon, but the head teacher goes away all summer. That's really when everything goes downhill. They have subsitutes and it's complete chaos. The infant room is really cramped-too small for 8 infants when they get to the crawling/walking stage. Staff turnover is high (which is pretty common), and we're working on the 3rd director in a year, who's going on maternity leave at the end of Jan. Like I said, knit-picky, but not anything major.

Overall, I felt comfortable with my son there, largely because of his teacher. She's excellent. However, having gone to a parents meeting recently, I know there are issues in the other rooms. I don't mean to scare you off if that's where you're going. You'll be fine if you go in there knowing what to expect!

I've been with the center for 6+ years and still there. I have had positive and negative experiences but I'm still there because I directed all my issues to the Regional Director and all was taken care of. For more details please feel free to provide your contact information to my email address: brokesinc@yahoo.com. I'll be happy to talk to you.

Thanks everyone. Your feedbacks have been really helpful. We have decided to try CW since we dont have any other option. Most other daycares are full for the entire year and some have opening only after September. But atleast, we will be more careful and alert now that we know what to expect. Thanks again everyone!
