What Chickacoan mall are you talking about? There's a Clyde's planned across from Chickacoan and a possible strip shopping center at the corner of Broadlands Blvd, but a mall??

Your refusal to prove your allegations of hate mail and threats speaks volumes. I note that MaryJo is no longer talking about it -- she appears to have figured it out.

So go on -- continue to share your hate mail and threats "with people of trust" in your little fantasy world. In the real world, we have seen them for the lies they are. As I said yesterday, we will all form our own opinions about your credibility with regard to your future posts. I know I have already formed mine...

Nobody is obligated to provide this forum with anything. Keep that in mind when making your baseless accusastions. Form your opinion all you want but don't act like you speak for anyone other than yourself.

And what about chris' baseless allegations? She and her alter-ego put them out here for the entire community (and others) to see. As I have said before, these lies disparage Broadlands as a whole. They should not go unchallenged.

IMO her lies have been effectively exposed. The public figures in the hospital issue have not received hate mail or threats, her phantom victims certainly could not have. Now that a public record has been made of the response to her allegations, I am ready to let the issue go. Hopefully she will do the same.

Going to have to rain on your little parade patsfan. I've seen the hate emails too and I'm not the only one. The HCA supporters behind them definitely have nasty mouths and little respect others but look at the company that they keep - HCA - which says a lot.

    Speaking of baseless accusations....

I have to agree with PatsFan. Chris made a serious allegation which at the moment she is only confiding with people she 'trusts'. I'm willing to withold judgment until I see evidence but there are problems with the statements made.

First and foremost this does not pass Occum's Razor, which is the most simple explaination is the correct one and here is why:

A new member (MaryJo) who has no contact information gives Chris physical evidence of oppression which are emails and phone calls. I'd buy the email, but the phone calls? Where did they get the number from? You can't reverse trace an email when you don't have it and even if you did have it is still very hard to do. This is something out of the X-files. A more likely excuse is that there were only a few emails and no phone calls or this was a pre-meditated smear tactic. Not that Chris is doing this but she could be used by someone with a like agenda.

So if there are hate emails, then evidence is in the Headers and on the servers here since the only way to email a member is from the EmailTO: tag on the members page.

Without evidence this is a smear tactic and a character assasination. And holding the evidence among people who only share your idealogical view point is not going to further the validity of the claims. It will only further the divide between Pro and Anti and alienate those of us who are neutral. I honestly think PatsFan was neutral about it when he first asked about it but now I can't blame him if he is Anti now because of the way he's been treated.

    Regarding cardiac catheterization-
Donna is right in that the state (through the COPN process) regulates when and where these services can be offered. My understanding is that before additional cardiac cath labs can be added to a Planning District, the existing hospitals that provide these services must be above a certain threshold number.
In the case of Planning District 8 which includes Loudoun, 8 of the 9 hospitals DO NOT reach this threshold. Inova Fairfax is the exception. The BRMC will have this procedure because it is part of the relocation process. Because the state standard is not met, HCA is against adding additional cardiac cath services. I received this information from HCA and have not independently verified it. Some of you that have experience in healthcare may know about it.
HCA is on the record as not opposing the addition of beds at LHC and the addition of beds at LHC's Cornwall campus.

I'm not sure I understand your defense of HCA. So, they are "OK" with Loudoun Hospital adding new beds but they don't want people in the county like my son that has congenital heart defects to be able to go to the hospital here instead of in DC. I don't understand how people can defend anything and everything that HCA does that is underhanded. People have defended their fraud, their lack of charity care, their pollution, their psychiatric units, and now people are defending them when they are trying to deny us basic healthcare services. After reading the newsletter this month, I'd really appreciate someone from the Homeowner's Association to talk a little about why they are supporting HCA when they are working against the best interests of the residents that they are supposed to represent. Does anyone on from the Homeowner's Association read these posts at all?

Maryjo, many of us are not defending HCA as much as we simply want another healthcare option in Loudoun County. Personally, I want this option viable in that I do not have to drive any further than I would for LHC.
As far as some of the other issues... the fraud was back in 1996/97 and they were fined heavily for it. IMO they paid their pennance, time to move on.
Charity care- I have no opinion
Pollution - They are NOT going to incinerate at BRMC. We should be much more concerned about car pollution than anything HCA would produce. I don't see alot of carpools coming out of Broadlands.
Psychwards - hey, crazy people gotta go somewhere!
Denying healthcare - not denying so much as pointing out that the COPN numbers are insufficient for LHC's application. Personally, I would liek to see LHC get approved.

COPN numbers? Who knows what that means? How does it effect kids who need cardiac care? For you and others who support HCA, this might be about some acronym but for other people like me and my family it is about what HCA is trying to do to take away healthcare from us! I just don't see how you can defend what HCA is doing even if your hiding behind acronyms.

You can find information about the COPN process by searching these forums or the Internet. It's the process that all hospitals in Virginia have to go through to add beds or services, or before new hospitals can be built.

Did you know that BRMC, if built, includes "Advanced cardiac care, including cardiac catheterization?" Is this service different than what your son requires and LHC is proposing? If it's not different, why wouldn't you want this service to be more convenient and closer to you and your son? It's just a question with no hidden meanings -- I'm just curious.

A listing of State-approved, BRMC hospital services can be found at:

You know what... I think you HCA-Haters are trying to deny US Broadlanders and others healthcare! We need another hospital and we need it dang soon. If this hospital is eventually denied, we will not have another hospital for many years to come and to me, THAT will deny many of us healthcare in that we will have to wait loooong hours in ERs and looooong waits for scheduling procedures.

So, to spin it like some others, YOU are denying us healthcare!

Oh, and don't try to manipulate some of us by using your child in your posts. Most of us have kids too!

Now, I hope I don't slip off my soapbox and get hurt because I would be in the LHC ER for 1/2 a day!

I was making a point about how some people on here are more interested in using acronyms and citing stupid state rules and you actually post more of them. It might be easy for you to talk about XYZ rule or ABC statute, but HCA's actions are actually causing real people harm, not some silly acronyms.

Also, HCA may intend to have cardiac care at some point in the far future if they do ever get to build here, but Loudoun could have the same capability much sooner. So, why do you keep supporting HCA when it is trying to har each and every one of us?

In your long, mean spirited response you did not even try to give a reason for supporting HCA's actions to harm everyone in the Broadlands. That is because no possible reason exists, and you must be ashamed of helping HCA harm all of the children in the area.

Also, this is your second personal attack on me. I don't know why you are so mean and cruel but I learned manners when I was growing up. Maybe you hate moms or all women. Anyway, you can attack someone else from now on. I'm not listening.

Who attack whom first? I support a new HOSPITAL and it just happens to be HCA who wants to build it. You and others are basically saying in your posts that myself and others want to harm children by supporting HCA. Is this not an attack? It sure is ridiculous!

BTW, this was not an attack but if you perceive it so, than NYAH NYAH NYAH. Also, you said it was my 2nd personal attack you? Where was the first? Show me please!

And "maybe I hate moms or all women"? Oh how could you say this?!?!? And so close to Mother's day! The horror! I think I am going to cry!

Your first attack was to question my judgment, that was earlier in this long thread. I never questioned your right to have an opinion. Now you write cruel remarks about me just becuase I want decent healthcare for my sick child. I hope that makes you feel like a big man. Continue saying what ever you want, I'm not listening to your playground bullying.

For those of you that want a Fair and Balanced representation on our homeowners board, (since all of our HOA representatives are outspoken supporters of HCA and all support their efforts to build here) vote for me (Donna Fortier) in the upcoming elections. I think it is unfair that not one person who is against HCAs plan to build here sits on our board and represents the hundreds of homeowners who are against this HCA proposal. Thanks

    MaryJo,

You are not doing yourself any favors. This "Mom protecting child act" is getting old. You use it as an excuse to attack anyone you perceive to be an HCA supporter with any kind of excuse you can manage and it's damaging the anti-HCA side's credibility.

First there were these ficticous hate mails, and now the hysterical "what about the children". I'm sorry your child has issues, but you are obviously managing them w/o cardiac care at LHC so that can't be the real reason you are up in arms about this.

I'm no HCA supporter. I think the they are corrupt. But LHC hasn't acted any better and their service stinks. I want a new hospital with new equipment. I'd rather it be at Worldcomm campus and non-HCA but this county is growing to fast.

In addition, I have several times pointed out that it should be able to change the proffers to rezone the area of the hospital to something other than huge commercial but no-one ever considers it in their fight against the hospital. Stop and think of what will happen if you defeat the hospital and it stays with the same zoning. It is zone for a commercial building as big as some of those at AOL and Worldcomm. Think about how much more traffic and light pollution that will generate. If you guys are serious about defeating the hospital you better start thinking about what comes next. We need to get that proffer changed just like LHC is trying to do with it's bid to stop the BRMC.

I admit I am on the fence but leaning toward building the BRMC. I feel you can never have too many health care options. I just find it interesting that LHC never mentioned any plans to offer cardiac care until a competing hospital planned to open offering those services. It's obvious (to me anyway) that LHC is playing the cardiac care angle as a way to keep out competition. I would be willing to bet if BRMC is not approved LHC will back off of their proposed cardiac care offer and use some excuse like there is not enough demand to justify the expenditure. LHC says they "want to open a cardiac center" but give no specifics. I feel if they were really sincere about it they would be saying something like "We can have a cardiac center with 50 beds operational by spring of 2005" That gives me the impressions that their proposal is simply the latest volley in the propaganda war being waged by both sides. I don't condone BRMC's action's either. This whole mess has turned into a childish tit for tat on both sides.
No matter how you feel about the decision by HOA to support BRMC you must give them credit for being on of the few representative/political organizations that has actually had the backbone to voice an opinion. The way the political powers are dragging this out, one day soon we will be living in a Loudoun county with 400,000 residents and still only have our current hospital with our current amount of beds and services which everyone admits is currently insufficient.

It is a shame that many people in this forum would prefer to attack a mother who wants something that is in the best interests of her child as well as ALL of the other children in the community.

The undisputed FACT is that HCA is intentionally and maliciously trying to block the addition of life-saving cardiac care services to the hospital that already exists in this county. Even if HCA does win eventually, it will be YEARS before they could build. So, how many people need to die in the meantime due to HCA's desire to make sure that we don't have access to cardiac care!?!
