its not a privacy issue, because we know none of the information used was private.

Its what afgm was pointing to. Its about ethics, disclosure, validation, and honesty.

Its about someone who wants to lobby for our opinions and voice, yet who will not disclose or answer questions about their lobbying efforts.

Woodward: The story is dry. All we've got are pieces. We can't seem to figure out what the puzzle is supposed to look like. John Mitchell resigns as the head of CREEP, and says that he wants to spend more time with his family. I mean, it sounds like bull****, we don't exactly believe that...

Deep Throat: No, heh, but it's touching. Forget the myths the media's created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Woodward: Hunt's come in from the cold. Supposedly he's got a lawyer with $25,000 in a brown paper bag.

    Deep Throat: Follow the money.

Woodward: What do you mean? Where?

Deep Throat: Oh, I can't tell you that.

Woodward: But you could tell me that.

Deep Throat: No, I have to do this my way. You tell me what you know, and I'll confirm. I'll keep you in the right direction if I can, but that's all. Just... follow the money.

Donna's previous post claims she targeted the mailing to our zip code. What's interesting about sending it to the 20148 zip code is that this zip code includes the Brambleton community as well as the community behind Broadlands on Belmont Ridge Road. Does this mean that non-residents of Broadlands were sent the "Broadlands - Your Voice, Your Neighborhood" letter? hmmm..I'm sure they were confused when they received "the letter" thanking them for their support in the Broadlands HOA Board of Directors. I know they were confused when they received the letter prior to the election.

Some good questions coming up re: conflict of interest and by-laws. Ray.Mittan…can you let us know what you find out upon reviewing the by-laws? If this (conflict of interest and communication to residents by board member)is something that is not currently in the by-laws, perhaps it should be. Cliff, Donna, Neal and Stacey…a Broadlands resident who previously served on the Broadlands Hospital Task Force stepped down from her position in order to avoid a conflict of interest after becoming employed by BRMC. Larry Bierman, the chairman for the Planning Commission, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Loudoun Hospital, recused himself from the Planning Commission for the hospital issue before the Planning Commission, also, to avoid a conflict of interest. Is this something that Donna should do? Should she recuse herself from any matters before the HOA that are hospital related in order to avoid a conflict of interest? Yes, I am aware that she has fought this issue for 3 years, long before becoming employed by Loudoun Hosp.; however, today she does receive a paycheck from Loudoun Hospital. Currently, Donna is very good about identifying herself as a Loudoun Hosp on the forums…but this very important detail was left out of her letter to our zip code.

Our current Loudoun County Board of Supervisors don’t see eye-to-eye on many issues…however, at the end of the day the Board must go with the decision of the majority. The BOS has to speak with one voice. Shouldn’t this be the same with the HOA Board? The HOA Board voted and issued a resolution of support for BRMC. If the argument is about the non-resident members who voted in support of BRMC…why would they actually support something that could result in a drop in home sales in Broadlands…prolonging their involvement in our community? I would think they would act in the best interest of the homeowners, welcoming businesses that would only add to the value of their investment and allow them to move on to their next project.

I basically support BRMC but in fairness to Donna. I don't belive the mailing list was acquired through her position with the HOA. I live in Broadlands but I never received the mailing. My zip code is 20147 (Overland Park). If it were a true Broadlands resident address list I would have recived it.
As for all of the other conflict of interest stuff, I will let y'all sort that out.

I don't believe the problem is how or where Donna got the mailing list but who financed the letter printing and mailing. I can go to the Loudoun County tax assessment web site, type in any Broadlands street name, and get a complete list of names and addresses of everyone who lives on that street.

However, if her employer, LHC/LHI, paid for the printing and postage for this mailing and/or provided her with the information contained therein, she's nothing but a conduit for her employer and she should step down from her HOA Board position.

Your name and address are not personal information. I think that's where you're confused. Even the price you paid for your house is on public record. Nothing about where a list of names and addressess was obtained is relevant to anything.

That's not relevant to her position on the HOA board. Others on the board claim they're not being paid by the new hospital but we only have their word for that. Not something that's very valuable.

I'm not confused at all. I know that my name and address are public record. However, the list of home owners that the HOA has is not public record. It is always relevant to find out where someone who has an interest in an issue obtains information. Lets just use a totally different example, maybe that makes it clearer why it is relevant where the information came from.

I am politically active. I also work at a large company, and I have access to their home addresses because of my job. If I use that information to send these people political propaganda, I will lose my job as soon as it is found out that I did this.

I am not saying Donna did anything wrong. I have no idea what she did, where the information came from. I am saying however that the question is relevant, and if I were in her shoes I would divulge the information to show that I have nothing to hide.

gammonbabe...I really don't believe Donna used an HOA list. OP Dude who lives in the Overland Park section of Broadlands did not receive this mailing because he lives in the 20147 zip code. She was able to access a database of residents in the 20148 zip code...which is easily obtainable.

Mearen...I was employed by BRMC until the end of May. I can vouch for the members on the board that support the hospital...they are in no way being compensated by BRMC/HCA for their support.

First - I HAVE NO AGENDA TOWARDS DONNA.

But... I have to take EVERYTHING she posts with a grain of salt. She IS an employee of LHC and therefore has a vested interest. She may have been fighting this before her employment with LHC. I personally would love to know if her fight helped her get a job with LHC.

My major concern is, is she going to, at some point put LHC's interest ahead of the interests of "The Broadlands"?

I personally think she should not be involved with ANY hospital issues while a board member.

You're entitled to your opinion that it's not relevant and I'm entitled to mine that it is very relevant.

Provide proof that anyone else on the HOA Board is being paid by HCA or LHI. Otherwise, I can just as easily say that you are being paid by LHI, and I only have your word that you're not...

Not relevant?! I would wager a pretty sum that her PRIMARY reason for getting elected to the HOA board was to prevent the new hospital.

Like I said before, I have nothing against Donna but her employment speaks volumns in ears. Would she have run for the HOA position if not for the hospital issue? I doubt it. But then again, my job makes me more jaded than most.

As I said, it does not, of necessity, have to be built in Broadlands. HCA can do what it wants with this land once it gets approval from the county. It may be a that a hospital is built, then again it may not.

The state has affirmed, doing an interesting flip/flop on this decision, that Loudoun needs another hospital. I happen to agree with that overall decision, albeit not with the appearance of how it was made. Whether HCA should be the 'anointed one' is another issue.

However, whether it is HCA building it or someone else, I am not going to actively campaign for any hospital in Broadlands, as long as there is opposition to its being in the subdivision.

    A quick comment.

Yes ... majority rules on the BoS and HOA boards. That said, nothing says that what was a unanimous decision on last years board, should remain the same on this years board. If this vote were taken today, it would probably result in a 7 to 2 decision in favor.

As I mentioned in my previous post, as long as there is a sizable number of residents opposed to the hospital, I cannot in good conscience support the building of one here.

So you're operating under the premise of guilty until proven innocent. It just doesnt work that way even on such an inconsequential issue as this.

Gammonbabe wasn't saying that Donna was guilty. What she was saying was that she should defend herself if she didn't use her position on the HOA so she can clear this matter up. As most on the forum probably agree, Donna probably didn't use info from the HOA for the mailing.

I'm guessing Loudoun Hospital purchased a mailing list and made it available to her. What Donna did do was make the letter appear to be from a HOA board member. I think that in itself is wrong and deceiving. The other question she has totally dodged is who paid for the letter and the mailing. While some don't think that is important...it is quite relevent. She made that letter seem like it was from her (a HOA boardmember)...it was quite amazing that her letter and Tony Raker's letter had just about the same wording. If Loudoun Hospital paid for that letter, (considering her sidestepping of the issue, I would say that it's pretty accurate) then she needs to divulge that and make it clear that it wasn't from a HOA boardmember (which she didn't really do), that it was from a Loudoun Hospital employee. If she wants to fight the hospital as a private citizen, that's fine, that's her right. But being an employee of Loudoun hospital and now a boardmember, that's pretty unethical in my opinion. She needs to come clean and walk away from the board. You can't be employed with the oposing opponent and remain objective.

Just a thought...I wonder who paid for her hefty HOA campaign? That sure would help out Loudoun Hospital to have an employee and an opposer on the HOA board. That's just a thought, not an accusation!

No, gammonbabe is operating on the premise that if Donna has nothing to hide she would willing to say where the list came from and who paid for it. Her refusal to answer the questions and provide backup to her claims about the hospital causing a drop in property values (and others) call her motives and credibility into question. She can easily put an end to the speculation but she chooses not to.

'hefty' HOA campaign? Maybe you all should try running for the board.. it hasn't exactly been a political race the last two times :) Just go look at the results, doesn't take many votes. Basically if you can get most of your street and maybe a neighboring street to vote for you.. you're pretty set.

I'd consider sitting on the HOA board a 'voluntary burden' some of our residents take on for us. I'm glad they do it, because someone has to do the work and be willing to put their face and name to the actions of the community.

As for Donna stepping down, etc.. her position and actions were all VERY well known before she ran for the board, so for the people that voted for her obviously knew what they were in for, and obviously there wasn't an alternative people thought was better. (I don't recall if Donna and Neil ran opposed to anyone or not). My only beef is, be direct, and don't use the Broadlands name in your own agendas. I mean, its perfectly fine to say 'I'm a HOA board member', but it must be clear that you are acting as yourself, not the board. Again, I haven't seen the letter in question, so I can't comment on if that is clear or not in the letter.

Seems like South Riding area (or perhaps leesburg) would be a better place for a hospital geographically. It would be a fair distance from Fair Oaks and Loudoun hospital.

Well Boomertsfx, I guess you should buy some land down there, petition the State for approval, then get your zoning approval and build it. I'm pretty sure that HCA isn't going to purchase another piece of land, go through the whole petitioning process to the State, then deal with the PC/BOS for zoning again.
