I am getting ready to have a new roof put on my middle unit townhouse. The best quote I have received is just under $6k. I know every job is different, but what have others paid?

    Thanks.

My neighbors just installed a new TH roof. They said they paid close to $7,500. So that means they probably paid more.
I would be interested to know if anyone has installed a cool roof, and the cost. Several companies mfg. them.

Today a "Field Inspector" from MAC (Mid Atlantic Construction; stormspecialist.com) ringing my door bell, and that he would access roof damage on my house. He found few areas on the shingles that he claimed to be wind and hail damage. I did see it, I am not an expert, but it looks more like roof aging.

I normally do not respond to these door to door solicitors, but they just replaced all shingles on the single family more roof across from my house (in just one day - between 8am and 5pm).

He actually called my insurance to file the claim to have an assessor come out check the damage. He then asked me to sign a contract for them to "fix the roof" (or whatever the insurance will approve off). That is where I stopped. I did not sign, but the claim is pending and the insurance will be assessing it.

I sounds good - I would get new roof shingles, paid by the insurance, but at the same time it does not feel right.

Does anybody have experience with this? What do you think?

A lot of people got new roofs paid for by insurance from some hail damage that occurred. Roof prices for our SFH were quoted all over the place! 14-20k plus. So, if they can get the insurance to pay them the higher amount I think it would be lucrative.

We called and got four quotes. Ended up using loudoun valley roofing who did a GREAT job, and have very good ratings. They are a honest company. Several of our neighbors used them also with good results.

However they do not deal with insurance companies. Hope this helps.

P.S. Long roofing came out and quoted well over 20k. I'll leave it there and not comment further. There were also "storm chasers" in the neighborhood. When I looked into them they did not exist beyond their business cards.
