Scouting is a great activity for parents to use as a tool to help raise their sons to be good citizens, mentally and physically fit, and build good character. Scouting has a program to fit every stage of development of a boy from first through 12th grades. First Graders through Fifth Graders join Cub Scouting. Although there is no restriction on which Scouting group to join, boys generally get involved in Scouting with their friends in groups associated with their schools. Two Cub Scout groups (called Packs) are very active with boys and families going to Hillside Elementary, Mill Run Elementary, and Legacy Elementary. The Pack at Hillside is holding its Join Scouting Night 21 September at 7:15 pm. The Pack at Mill Run just held their successful Join Scouting Night, but there is STILL plenty of time to join. A special night to Join Scouting at Legacy Elementary is being planned. Sixth graders through High School Seniors join Boy Scouts, and there are six excellent Boy Scout Troops in the Ashburn and Sterling area to join. For information on how and where you can join Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts please call 703-724-1064 or reply to this message. Those families with boys going to St Teresa's Catholic or Latter Day Saints churches can contact their churches directly or we can refer you to leaders in those Packs.

Thanks for including all the schools! Hillside's back to school night, as you mentioned, is tonight at 7:15 pm for boys in 1st - 5th grade. Also the October issue of the Broadlands newsletter will have contact names and phone numbers for people to call if interested in joining scouts, in the Clubs & Groups section.
