My son wanted to go to swimming with his friends today at the Broadlands SW pool, and showed the electric pool pass. For some reasons, the scanner was not working, and the staff would not let him in until he showed the actual badge. He had to wait for 20 mins in the parking lot, waiting for me to drive up and gave him the actual pass.
That is crazy, shouldn't the staff let him in after he showed the electronic pass with his picture on it?

Of course, I talked to 2 of the lifeguards at the check-in, and to my surprise, they didn't understand English. There was this man in the blue shirt (looked like Manager) came out and talked to me. After realizing the scan was not working, he said as long as we can show electronic pass with the picture, the kid can get in. OMG, why that not being communicated to the staff so we don't waste our time?
Anyway, just passing the information just in case.

This is likely to happen every year. The pool company uses many brand new temporary visa workers each year. They have very little time for training and do the best they can, but it is inconsistent from year to year. The manager in the blue shirt has been here before and has good knowledge of our system and process but is not always there. The lifeguards usually work out the kinks along the way but are supposed to be able to speak decent english.
