It's been a year or so now since Broadlands got FIOS. For those of you who signed up a year ago, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Looking back over the past year, how pleased are you with your service? (both reliability of the system and Verizon's response to issues)
    2. If you signed up for Internet, TV & phone how much of a jump did your bill take at the end of the introductory year?
    3. If you had to make the decision to give up whatever you had before and go with FIOS again, would you still do it?

The introductory offers are still rolling in, and after reviewing what we have (DirecTV with 2 old regular receivers, Comcast High Speed Internet and Verizon phone service) the introductory rates even now sound inviting. But before we take the leap we'd like to hear our neighbors experiences. Thank you.

We haven't had FiOS for a year yet but we're happy with it. Our contract is for two years so we have quite a while left at the contracted pricing.

The service for TV & internet has been uneventful, meaning no problems so no experience with customer service requests. Based on our experience with it so far we do not regret the switch from Comcast internet and DirecTV satellite. We were not unhappy with the previous services but it turned out to be less expensive to switch to FiOS, even taking into consideration that we upgraded to HD in the process. At our contracted price we pay about $40 less than we were paying previously. At the end of the contract I don't know how much the price will change but I imagine we can negotiate since Verizon won't want us to return to our previous carriers.

We especially like the "On Demand" feature for the convenience of watching programs any time we want, even if they were not recorded on our DVR.

If you haven't do so already I suggest that you create a spreadsheet with detailed pricing for the services you currently have and compare them to the individual services you could receive with FiOS and see how it works out. For example, include the price for your basic phone service, added features (like voicemail, etc.), monthly cost for DirecTV programming service, cost for each receiver you have, and the price for the speed of internet service you currently receive (FiOS offers different prices for different internet speeds). The Verizon FiOS website will allow you to itemize their services so you can make an accurate comparison of total costs.

So to more succinctly answer your question, we've had FiOS for about 9 months and are happy with the service and would order it again.
