About 5 years ago I replaced my 75 gallon tank with a Rinnai Tankless unit. Tankless Systems did the install. It was close to 3 grand at the time. A little pricey but they did have to do a lot of work. And I did get the energy rebates at the time.

Now I have unlimited hot water for anything I do. I chose Rinnai because Paul Harvey used to talk about them on his show.

Here are my only regrets. Due to the high efficiency, the flu had to be installed to vent horizontally and it is about 14 inches from the ground. So when we get those 30 inch snow storms you have to go out and clear the port outside otherwise the unit shuts off.

Cold water sandwich is also an issue but newer units these days have ways to address that.

Overall I like the unit and it has dropped my gas bill about 30%. I would not hesitate to do it again. I am told the code now is 18 inches off the ground because our annual snow falls are 16. But that still doesn't help snowmagedon.
