    Stephanie-
The source for salaries of the nonprofit hospitals is available through their IRS Form 990's, required by law to be available for anyone who requests it.
The articles you referenced seem to support my point...the average salary was $242,000. The examples cited of salaries over $500,00 were for CEO's responsible for multiple hospitals and huge hospitals (Miami) with hundreds of beds.
Little ol' Loudoun with 104 beds would seem to be at the low end of average, not well above it.

Cliff, I don't know what questions I have not answered, please refresh my memory. Since you are such an avid supporter of HCA I wonder if you can tell us how often HCA plans to appeal before they quit wasting our time, energy and resources. They have lost once, and are on the losing track a second time, are they going to appeal until we all need medicare? (Since they are so familiar with how medicare bills).

Cliff, since you requested the 990s for LCH from the IRS what did that form say about HCA execs. Also how did you get a copy of this 990 for LCH...did the IRS mail it to you? Did you pick it up? Also are you sure you are reading this information correctly and not making assumptions about salarys and benefits?

I got the 990's directly from LHC. They are required by law to provide it when requested. The actual salaries and benefits dollars are listed. No assumptions necessary.
I don't work for HCA so I don't have any idea how long they will pursue this. I hope they don't stop. Even if they are never approved, the fear of competition has, in my opinion, improved LHC.
If we're stuck with only one hospital, any incentive for them to improve is welcome.

Cliff, first of all I think most of the hospitals around here are improving because they are all getting more beds coming on line and the hospitals are expanding. I doubt it has anything to do with competition. LCH is growing along with this community and it is unfair to say that its the competition from HCA that has improved them. All hospitals have had their share of bad raps. Reston included. We can agree that we are all gaining by the expanding number of beds available to us. I still don't know what I never followed up on as far as questions I never answered. Could you please let me know so I can address them.

    Donna-
One that comes to mind is GCYR's post on the Hospital Forum page asking where you found facts regarding a possible incinerator. You didn't answer his question, and when he reasked, you still did not answer it.
If you do indeed have something, let us know. Even as a supporter of the hospital I would oppose an incinerator.

I think any moe discussion of the hospital should be redirected to the Hospital Forum and not this one.

Cliff, if you recall as well as Greg, I explained my answer about the incinerator during the first go around with this mess. I possed the question to HCA about medical waste and how it was going to be disposed. If it would be incinerated or if Biohazard trucks would be traveling through our neighborhood taking the waste to be burned. I also clarified my misunderstanding about an incinerator at this proposed location on on our old website. If that is the only question I have not answered then I guess we are caught up to date.
