Certainly sounds good what the new board has said in general, hopefully we will hear specifics on how they plan to achieve these lofty goals. Without putting all of us in the poor house by raising our taxes thru the roof.

As far as bringing new business, the one thing you hear from almost all the large existing businesses is the road system sucks and the need for more affordable housing. But roads are the number one gripe.

The new board needs to come up with a viable regional transportation plan that can be built as soon as possible to entice any large scale businesses to locate here. Promises just don't get it anymore.

The school budget is the other big hickey we have to keep taxes low in these troubling real estate times.

I talked with the the person in the know today in Loudoun county government about our local area transportation. Quite a long conversation about numerous topics about roads and when we can expect to see some improvement. Well I am not going to give his name out here but you can pm me if you want it and his phone number. :)

First there are still a few problems left with widening waxpool and they are mostly easement problems that should be worked out. If all goes well and it is a BIG IF the actual road construction should start sometime this summer with some utility construction beforehand. They are no longer going to put in the utility tunnel as it got to be too costly. The road that is planned to go thru verizon is another big IF and is not thought of to be wanted or desirable by verizon or even if it is ever going to be built. There are more pressing road problems then getting that put thru and other road projects that will do far more good to ease the waxpool problem.

They are putting a lot of weight on pacific being built to help waxpool. The part from the wegmans to severn way should be under construction this year and again there are some easement problems that right now don't look like a big deal to resolve. Atlantic on the east side of 28 is in the design phase with no money to build it as of yet. But eventually it will connect to davis and shaw road and will will be then be an continuous feeder from the mall to 606 as will pacific going to connect to 606 and be the continuous feeder road on the west side of 28 and there is no money to finish pacific from aol to 606.

Yep our good buddies the flex people are not very willing to see and give an easement so sterling blvd can continue west to cedar green and the flex people are now in the early design stages of designing another flex building that could cut off sterling blv from continuing west forever unless you condemn the property. Right now it is not looking good for that eventual connection to shellhorn where the majority of the future traffic is going to come from this side of the toll road. They the county is really counting on the toll road and the metro to ease future traffic around moorefield and the two proposed metro stations at 606 and by the home depot. The metro is slated to arrive here in late 2015 if the can find the money for phase two. My opinion the airport wants it so bad and they have the power to make sure the money will be there.

I think it is bad thinking to rely on metro and the toll road to ease the huge amount of traffic those developments which are approved will generate. This development is way biiger then reston and reston has sunrise and sunset as their two feeder roads along the dulles toll road. We have basically no feeder roads as presently proposed for a much larger development then reston will ever be.

Not good for future road congestion if they don't find a way to build those non proposed feeders.

There is more but that is all the time I have to report today.
