LOL! Same here. The reception is good right now, but I'm just waiting for it to go bad again. I'll post again if it goes bad. We're keeping our appointment too, just in case.

A Comcast service person came out for an appointment yesterday morning and tested the line. She confirmed with the TV in her van that the signal was good, but the picture quality was as I had described to them earlier. She noted that it is a known problem as she had come out last Friday to another townhouse nearby to address the same problem. I asked when would Comcast fix the issue, she told me it will be treated as an outage and has a high priority. As of this morning, the issue has remained unresolved.

We decided to order an "InDemand" movie over the weekend. After ordering it, the movie was all set to start...then boom....it froze with a message saying "request denied". We called Comcast and the rep said that they're having problems with the InDemand requests. (gee, ya think??). They rep had no clue as to when it would be taken care. It's ridiculous.......

It was great last night, but this morning, SAME AS BEFORE!!!

We have the appointment today, watch how the picture will be fine when the guy is here and then get crappy again. This is so frustrating!

    Ditto.

When I called to make my daily complaint, they told me that my appointment was for Wednesday. Uh, no. It's not supposed to be Wednesday. I asked specifically for an appointment on FRIDAY because I can't stay home any other day this week. The person who made the appointment told me my appointment was FRIDAY, but he apparently entered it for Wednesday.

If they can't make an appointment for the correct day, how can they possibly fix my cable properly?

    UPDATE

The Comcast technician just left my house.
He found the signal strength was too high coming in the distribution box.
The problem has been referred to the maintenance dept.

At least he didn't say it was my buried cable and/or cable boxes...

ALL - PLEASE CALL COMCAST FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT.
Just calling 1-800-COMCAST to complain doesn't seem to help.

    Another Update:

DH says he got a call from Comcrap (I think someone came up with that one already...) and emailed me this:

Keep your fingers crossed that something will actually come of this.

Well, I have good service again. Let's see what happens.

Last night, it was just like Cinderella. Poof. Gone at midnight.

Spoke too soon. The good service has disappeared yet again. Sigh.

Watched Law and Order on the HD channel when I got home and it looked fine. Watching channel 45 now and it's fuzzy, but not nearly as bad as before. I can actually make out faces now. I'm sure it's only a matter of minutes before it becomes unwatchable again. :(

:censored: !!!!!!! At least a pattern is emerging. It starts out ok, then degrades throughout the night. I don't know who to call anymore.

Mine just turned into a pumpkin, too.

GRRRR. I'll call, but it's not going to do any good.

I have an appointment on Friday morning. Maybe they'll find something then.

So, I just got off the phone with Comcast.

Gee, there's no outage reported in our area. There hasn't been an outage in our area. There's nothing they can do but schedule a technician. They apologize for the repeated problems. I can get a credit for the outage. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

    Same story. Different day.

If I can, I'll stop by the local office tomorrow. Someone's going to get an earful.

This is crazy! Thanks for calling though. BTW, they put a orange cable from the green box to our house yesterday
. Don't know what that's supposed to do, but so far nothing!

I also called again - Just looking for an update from the "maintenance department" regarding my signal strength issue. No comments listed in my account regarding the service appointment yesterday and the cable is still a mess today. Go figure.

However, 1-800-COMCAST did tell me of an outage in Orange county and Martinsburg that could be the cause of my trouble. Really? And they also mentioned something about construction in my area. Huh? Perhaps the buried cable has dried up due to the lack of rain. I'll suggest that one tomorrow.

So where is that local Comcast office? Still off Red Rum Road???

Note: The "On-Demand" HD programming seems to work fine for me. Isn't that coming down the same cable from the same provider? Can someone please verify. Thanks in advance.

The last (only) time I went to the local office was just before Christmas. It was off Red Rum then. That's where I'm going to try tomorrow.

You're right about the On Demand. My internet service is fine (knock wood). Same cable.

I could spit nails if I had any in the house.

It's the whole "we don't have any reports of trouble in your area" that really gets me. Because I know it's not true. I call nearly every day. Several others on the forums have called, too.

FIOS can't come soon enough. Maybe a little competition will do Comcast some good.

I'm nearly irritated enough to go back to DirecTV, but not quite. I'm planning to research Dish Network, though.

Hmm, Dish network. Forgot about them. We already burned the DirecTV bridge.... This is such a case of a big corporation not knowing it's :censored: from it's elbow.

We had problems with Comcast internet before that was local to my street. It took them a week to finally send someone out and say.. hmm, it looks like your cable was cut... That was when they were doing construction on the 2nd phase of buildings by Safeway.

Has anyone noticed that there is some kind of box on the corner of Claiborne and Vestals that looks like a new light or something? I also noticed a lot of blue marks down my street, usually indicating that some line (sewer, cable, telephone, etc) is there. I'm REALLY hoping those lines are for Verizon's benefit!

Well, I'm going to get back to the static haze they call cable tv. Have a good night

Well I have delt with that office for years and they just nice you to death with little substance. I even brought in a letter from my Lawyer threatening a lawsuit and and they could care less.

I have from the day they ran two lines to my home nothing but problems off and on. First I needed a power booster to increase the signal because I had too many TV's and internet connections. I told him I have two lines coming into the house and he said only one worked and for 150 dollars he could make everything work fine. The $150 went to him for the power booster not Adelphia which it was back then ha ha I told him I already heard that scam in Southern California and should I call Adelphia and ask about it. All of a sudden he goes back outside to check the incoming lines again. Guess what he tells me somehow the second line was not connected hmmmm and now everthing should work perfect and it did. Then they went Hi def and I got several hi def boxes and the on demand stopped working. After at least 5 techs later and many replaced boxes and over a year later it turned out to be a code problem somewhere else.

3 out of the five techs were well incompetent one would not take off his dirty shoes so he left another disconnected one of the cables , which I discovered after he left. The others did no more then check the signal to the boxes and said everything was fine and could not understand why the on demand was not working and with many calls to the techs on the phone.

Now my hi def boxes have been going bad and all of them have been replaced at least 3 times in the last couple of months and still have to return one again.

My on demand still does not work years later and every time I complain they want to send a tech to the house. Which I now refuse. What are they going to do this is not rocket science. Signal comes to outside box then goes to a central splitter or whatever it is called then signal goes to box. If they are getting a good signal at the box then it is either an offsite problem or possibly a bad box or modem. More then likely it is offsite and they either are ignorant about it or just plain lie.

Anyway I wish I had an alternative but Fios is a long ways away for our neighborhood.

Good luck being niced to death at their office.

Hopefully if they do send out a tech hopefully he shows up which lately has been a problem with them as I have heard from waiting in line there by some very angry people. Now I hear they charge you for a tech to come out. The people returning the equipment there that have big smiles are lucky to be able to switch to FIOS and the girls at comcast just don't seem to understand why they are switching as I have overheard several times while waiting in line there.

I have just given up to be able to get on demand or consistently have a replacement box that works the first time. I hjave one box now that only gets a couple of the hi def stations while the others get all of them fine, and that has been a problem off on on for a long time.
