There is a cat wondering in the woods at the corner of Demott and Vestals Gap. I have seen it quite a few times and don't know if it is a stray or belongs to someone. It has the markings of a Siamese or Himalayan with bright blue eyes. I'm hoping someone will see this and claim him/her.

I've also seen the cat you described, along with several others in the area! It appears to be young and obviously (not) neutered. My guess? It's another unfortunate feline cast out of the house because it started to exibit marking behaviour!

Have you seen it marking? I wonder if animal control should be called so he at least has a chance at a good life.

No, I haven't seen him marking, but he has all the telling signs of a maturing male. He appears to be a juvenile. He visits my yard to prey on the birds (as do 4 other cats)!

I wish pet owners understood the consequences of their actions or rather, their non-actions.

My Himalayan tragically escaped from our residence over a year ago. If this is a male Himalayan, declawed, which would now be about 8 years old, I would be happy to get him shipped to me in Saudi.

And in response to KTdid, not all pet owners willingly let their cats roam or do not take responsibility and accountability for their actions. Muffin escaped from our residence on the day I brought him home from the groomers. When we came in, I was having construction done at our home and just my rotten luck, as I let him out of his carrier, one of the workers was doing work by the door and had just started drilling, startling Muffin with the noise who panicked and took off out of the house. I had posters and ads up for him for months but until I know conclusively that he expired, I won't give up hope.

This is a short-haired chocolate point with a white spot on its nose. Doesn't appear to be neutered.

As for generalizing about pet owners - many cat owners care for their cats but let them outside regularly. In my opinion, that is irresponsible. I have four roaming around my back yard preying on the song birds I feed. But I have sympathy for the owners who lose their pet cat because it innocently got out of the house.
