... of something that you pay for that you COULD have for free, but you choose to pay for it because of its convenience.

EXAMPLE: you are willing to pay a $2 delivery fee because you don't feel like going to pick it up yourself- $2 is worth the convenience of having it delivered.
    capiche? :)

I am trying to think of things that consumers spend $$ on for convenience, time saving reasons but i am drawing a blank except for the example above!
    thank you in advance

    seriously though!!
i pay more for the dry cleaner down the street as opposed to going out to the dry clean depot in sterling.
i pay my neighbor to watch my kids so i don't have to take them into the grocery store. it actually ends us SAVING me money.
i pay for shipping on ink cartridges b/c it's more convenient than writing down my printer specs, going to staples, blah blah blah.
if i'm in a hurry i will not search for the cheapest gas. i will get it wherever i can, when i can.

i would pay extra for a healthy fast food place (as long as it was drive through).
i would pay extra for a drive through that sold diapers and milk.

i would pay extra if my dryer could fold & put away the clothes. lots extra.

i think parents of little ones are more prone to paying extra for convenience b/c it is not easy to shop around for bargains with a screaming terrible two.

i like to think of myself as a bargain hunter, but i do value convenience.

Sometimes when we travel and have to stay in a hotel, I will get an additional room (an adjoining room with a door in between the two rooms) for the kids to sleep in. Their bedtimes are so much earlier than ours - that way we can still stay up, read, watch TV, have the lights on, without keeping the kids up. And when they wake up early in the mornings, they can watch TV in their rooms without us having to listen to their shows. I have even done this at Disney resorts (the moderate resorts, not the deluxe). It's worth every dollar to not have to deal with the chaos of having us all cramped into one room.

I'm very cheap, but I will sometimes pay tolls for the convenience of taking the fast/direct route.

I imagine some people pay ATM fees for the convenience of getting cash at a certain place, although I never have.

what about online convenience? do you pay for info that you could probably take a time to google on your own but would rther pay to save time and effort?

I pay for Zagat online once a year when I'm planning group dinners in another city. In that case I'm paying for reliable, consistent, convenient information.

Sometimes we pay to park in a garage for convenience instead of parking the car two blocks away for free (and walking the distance in HEELS) ouch!
