I just did a couple speed tests and noticed that my upload speed had increased from 128K to 256K.

Any other Adelphia users out there see this too?

Not yet. I saw in the paper they were doing this, and got an e-mail from them yesterday saying they expected the work to be completed by Oct. 15. Additionally, download speeds are supposed to rise to 3Mb.

Now all they need to do is keep it up and running for a week at a time! Is there any information about Static IP's?

Last I heard, static IPs were still running $125/mo - and you still can't run servers over it.

I have also read reports (from DSLReports) that Adelphia raised rates again. Can anyone confirm?

Keep in mind that they also say "up</u> to 4 mb/ 512" not guaranteed speeds at all. Also, they still have the small print stating best efforts and no guarantees. so whats different? Hmmm, the "possiblitity" of faster service and guaranteed price increases every 10 months.....:)
At least I was seeing price increases every 6-8 months. Started out at 41.95 w/no cable service. 18 months later I was at 57.95. And outages were still consistent for me...no thanks, Im glad Im done w/Adelphia. But it sounds like it is still better than the openband stuff (oh dear, did I just open up another can of worms....[}:)] )

I just got off the phone with their technical support to get a more detailed answer of what's going on. He explained that starting this week for the Ashburn area they are rolling out updates to our cable modems that will increase the speed of the Powerlink service from 1500Kb down/128Kb up to 3000Kb down/256Kb up.

He said to test if your cable modem has received the update is to go to a speed test site and test your connection. If the update has been sent your results for the upload should be ~256Kb up.

I'm glad they are improving the service.

I think the Powerlink service has finally been up for 3 weeks without a hicup for me. The month of September was horrible, I was down for 4 days!

These days I don't really have any complaints with Powerlink. Both my PC and MACs are sufing along nicely. I'll swing by the speed test and see what they pull.

Just did another speedtest through Adephia. Came back as 1715/125. Seems they have reverted back to the 128Kb up.

Guess the 256Kb up was short lived :(

    Wes:

what site are you using for your speedtest... my latest tests (using DSLReports and PCPitStop) have been in the 750/85 range.. and that does not make me happy

I did a speedtest as well and I was still at 128K up.

I have spoken to several people who use Adelphia Powerlink and they have said their modem had been updated correctly to 256K. Seems the update process may have missed some of us :(

I called Adelphia and the tech support guy was awesome. He said that some of the modem configs had been missed and that he could force it to be updated. In about 5 minutes, he had pushed a new modem config out and now my speedtest results are 1093/249. Woohoo!!

If anyone's modems were missed in the 256K update, call Adelphia and they will push out the correct config to your modem.

    Wes

Just did another test this morning and got 500/240. Called Adelphia to find out if I had the latest update and I do. So while I was on the phone with Adelphia I did another speed test and I got 2224/180. Wondering if they tweaked something while I was talking to them on the phone. It's solid now.

I had the same experience with Adelphia.... was testing at approx 700/100 and called. I got to a "second level" tech, and he checked for the update, which I did already have, and while on the phone, I re-ran a test, and got 1500/200 I DOUBLED my speeds, with "no changes" according to the techie... hmmmmmmm

I called about a week ago because I was still getting the 3000/128 config for my SB4100 and they tech tried a bunch of diff files and finally said he got one to work. I still only get ~14k/s uploads, so I need to call back and make them get it working. Paying $55/month, I want 256k up! =)
