I called and they were able to get me up to 3000/256 fairly easily (read: first try)...I'm using a non-Adelphia Linksys unit.

Dan - glad they fixed it.

Hopefully this is Adelphia's attempt at turning over a new leaf...

I wonder how long it will be before they update the upload to to 512K :)

Just tested my connection speed. Not bad. On average, I've been pretty satisifed with Adelphia.

    2003-12-06 18:39:41 EST: 2117 / 244
Your download speed : 2117402 bps, or 2117 kbps.
    A 258.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 244738 bps, or 244 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Just wondering, what models of cable modems are being used by most around here?

I've got a Motorola SB4100, original modem from my Adelphia signup.

I have the Motorola SB 4100. I'm also wondering when Adelphia will bump the upload to 512K.

I used to have a Motorola SB4100 but it kept freezing up on me so Adelphia replaced it with a Terayon TJ615 which has been much more stable.

I had some problems this weekend as well, but its up now. I called them yesterday and they are sending someone out to test the signal strength. Hopefully it will reveal the problem.

Service was down Sunday afternoon and through the evening. Called Adelphia during outage to request they check for a problem at their end and they confirmed it was their problem.

I use a Motorola SB4200 -- no problems with it.

For anyone with a SB4100 that is gettign 256k up (~25-30k/s), can you tell me what config file you're using? (http://192.168.100.1)

I'm still stuck at 128 after 3 calls to adelphia. Here is a snippet of my logs with the config they have me on:

    031209143615 7-Information D509.0 Retrieved TFTP Config plink-moto-sb410x.cm SUCCESS

For testing, I just upload a zip file to an ftp server.

    Upload: 4,802,351 bytes, 13.5 kbytes/s
    226 Transfer complete.

    :(

    Any ideas?

What I would do is take your cable modem up to our local Adelphia office and they will swap it for a different one. I think they are open on Saturdays....

I own my modem, so that is not an option. It's definately something in the configs that is screwed, because other than upload it works fine. Will try removing the only splitter I have and try again.

you may have already tried this, but disable your firewall, and re-run the upload test. Some firewalls really put a drag on the upload.

    I have an SB4100...

Tonight I'm getting 210 kbps download and 120 kbps upload. Ugh!

BTW Circuit City has a rebate special on the SB5100, I believe it's $59.99 after the $20 rebate.

I too have an SB4100, I also get the slow speeds you see, but only after about 7:30pm. During the day I can get 1000/256 w/no problem. In a couple cases Ive broken 2.2Meg/256. Problem is I never get a consistent speed. I also notice that I can not traceroute outbound, but I can traceroute inbound. Anyone else notice this? John Horner? Do you see this as well?
If you SB5100 users are getting better bandwidth in the evening, I may have to get one of those, but I suspect it is a problem everyone sees.
