Mearen I read Bible all time. I like lot. You so smart and make so many senses with your comment on Leviticus for homeosexuality! Will now you please to help me with the other Leviticus chapter:

Like you, I believe what Bible say and I got toss my wife in basement every motnh cause of menstruation, right? Some one got to help me with cop who bother me. I no want arrested!

Don't question Dang's integrity! He is one of the few pillars of reason and integrity in our community.

 

Why does he need more help? He brings up some valid points and a 'man of the bible' should be able to help him. I'd also like to know why religious zealots selectively pick passages to put up on a pedastal but ignore some of the obviously ludicrous ones. I say, don't be a half-assed follower of the word...if you're going to condem the gays and all other religious, you might as well kill your crippled son and lock up the wife during menstraution.

Perhaps initially, but I'm honestly interested in why certian passages of the bible are interpeted literally and certian 'less popular' passages are ignored completely.

 

Brim, there are many non-denominational bible schools in the area, you should consider visiting and ask your questions there.

I just want to say that if I did have an "Alt" here I would name them Ned Flanders or Evil Homer Simpson. Cliff already thought I was Dang and I couldn't stop laughing b/c the Admins would have kicked me out long ago if that was the case.

Ok, let me wade in here and see if I can answer some of the questions.

The laws referred to in the original question in this thread come from the Old Testament. The Old Testament Law only applied to the Israelites not to Christians (or non-Christians for that matter). Old Testament law was a guide to show the Israelites how to obey and please God (the 10 commandments), how to worship God (sacrifical laws), and how to differentiate themselves from other nations (rules on food, clothing, etc..) Christ's death on the cross ended Old Testament law.

According to the New Testament in place of the rules and regulations outlined in the Old Testament we are to live by "the law of Christ" which paraphased is to love God with everything you have and to love your neighbor as yourself. Additionally 9 out of the 10 commandments still apply (the only one that does not is "To remember the sabbath".

That's it in a nutshell.
