Heard on NBC4 news tonight that the BOS denied HCA's application for the Broadlands Regional Medical Center in a 6-3 vote.

HCA has already stated that they will appeal to the Circuit Court.

Interesting that Supervisors Burton and Kurtz joined York--wonder what changed their minds, or was it just time to actually vote?

Also interesting, if true, that they pulled out the helipad. If it was only to be used to fly people out needing care unavailable here, how does that square with wanting to provide the best in care? Makes it seem like they really are focused on the site (on the toll road) rather than the service. Did they really pull the helipad?

They really did pull the helipad, and even York was surprised and upset that they would pull that. But I guess no matter what lengths HCA tried to go or will try to go, it boils down to the location just being wrong!!!

Well, I just heard from a good source that it is up for appeal. My friend Jimmy Boyle at dcrtv.com gave me some stuff. Dont hold your breath, but hang on. Visit dcrtv.com, it has interesting information about the radio and television here in the DC Metro area. I live in brambleton, and feel it okay to participate in this forum seeing as boundries have not been set.

Chapter 8 of ecclesiastes states in the 6th verse that "because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him"

Give us this hospital to heal the sick. We do not need more homes, we need help for the sick.

If I can help anyone in anyway please feel free to ask. Manual labor or course.

NBC4, Fox 5, ABC 7 and CBS 9 news all talk garbage. I was talking with my pal Julie yesterday about how pathetic it was that no one mentioned the 900 plus people that were killed in India. If you fill out surveys, or are connected to any of the networks, please have a little morality and dont check the box that states you want to hear about Natile hollaway.

This little forum is set up for the residents of Broadlands. I find it fantastic. It is like aol, but there is a world out there. We need to go outside and help the less fortunate.

I love www.peta.com I love animals and feel they have rights too, but that does not matter. You people can afford to give 20 bucks to a charity organization of your chosing. I sugest we have a link for Charatible contributions where one can go to a link and give a little of that oh so hard earned cash to a god cause. Ovarian cancer, breast cancer, peta (of course) Let us try to change this community into a feel good and helping community, not just a selfous, high def TV, bored, playing games on the stupid computer, eating, once a week (at best) with hubby. Eating everyday way too much. Drinking too much, or doing other chemicals which I will not get into because I will get kicked off stuff.

Think about your life though, do you like the person that you see in that bathroom mirrow, or had you been so branden that you do not think about it?

The best thing to come from a marriage is the kids, you love them so much. I guess that is why we were placed. Sorry guys, but I think the women would be on my side. If you have not realized yet, or are too young to see this.

I would speculate that 1 in 10 marriages are still burning, and the couples are still in love, actually I would go as far as give you the odds 1 in 5, maybe 1 in 2.

Dont get married, Marriage just does not work....We guys get tired of eating the same pizza each night. Sometimes we like mushrooms on it. This applies to every male.

I am finally tired and ready to sleep, that pepsi keeps you up, especially after 7 cups of coffee.

Please donate to this cause, my wife's mother has this horrid disease. She might only have a few somethings lwft. I do not know, but it has brought a tear to my eye many a time recently. I guess that is why I want a hospital out here. This post has gone in many directions. I am sorry for that. I wish you all god speed. If any of you would like to send flowers, or cards then offer you information in your posts.

Please also give to http://www.peta.org/ I will help anyone.

I have had a rough life, nothing much scaares me, but I am a kind soul with a lot to give. I have a new life which is beautiful. I love my field of media which includes Graphic Design, Printing. Everything else too, such as converting video tapes to DVD, or super 8 to DVD. Basically any analog device to digital. I use Macintosh compuers with the latest software so the printers are happy. have worked for many printing companies and the Apple Macintosh is the standard . PC's are not liked much in printing and web design. I can convert all of you files though. Quark, Photoshop, all Adobe suite ect. Basically if ou have an idea I can make it happen. My site will be in full function in 10 days. For the time being you can see a picture of my cat. I hope to et get a picture of Mel (Melissa) to put up, she is a great assistant in my studio. She has a BS in Multimedia arts, or something like that from Ohio. I will get all of her infor for my web site. I update it each day. Please stop by. www.johnfishlock.com

Anyhow I am finally tired. I am going to bed. I hope you readers are doing well.

    Please donate money to

Please! 20 bucks is not that much on your credit card.

As mentioned by the Admin in another, now locked, thread; this is not a blogging service, and should not be used as one.

This was an interesting topic -- had pollsters from both sides stop by the house.

Does anyone think this decision will help or hurt home values?

While having a hospital close would have been nice, I think the increased traffic would have made it the Broadlands "community experience" worse for those around the hospital -- or at least increase the potential for those who did not have a vested interest in the neighborhood to speed, which is bad enough with our current neighbors. :)

I think it is sad news and small minded of BOS to deny this medical center. I for one, would rather have medical care closer to where we live.

Quite frankly, I can hardly believe what I read on here. It is amazing to me. People seem to have a lot to complain about.

    Why?

Congrats to Innova and their lobbyists for getting the BOS to choose a corporation over the health and well being of their constituents. I hope this comes back to bite the 6 board members who voted against at reelection time. There's no way I'll be voting for them. While not wishing ill on anyone, I certainly hope it is one of their loved ones who has a heart attack at rush hour and has to get to Innova Loudoun and not one of mine.

I don't know much about real estate, but I doubt this would have much real effect on home values either way. Traffic is going to always be an issue. We will never live in the country. Something else will get built there.

I am kinda of sick of all the NIMBYism around here. I'm sure whatever is next for that space will get a fair share of whining. I personally prefer to stress about things I can control. (In fairness, I have to admit am on the other side of the development...)

I have to admit I don't get it.

What did people think when they bought there 3600sq ft house on 3800 sq ft land? When I put my money down there was a hospital on the future development map.

I don't think anyone who lives in Broadlands should have a vote on what additional development goes on (my self included). The person who should have a say is the guy in the old house by the Mason Hall or the houses beyond ryan and waxpool. Everyone else: ITS A MASS DEVELOPMENT!!!

The Board of Supervisors made the RIGHT decision ... finally! A 300 plus bed hospital does not belong in our neighborhood. The traffic from the 3 shifts of workers, the delivery trucks (linens, medical supplies, flowers, office supplies, etc.) would be unbearable ... and you can't tell me that all those people are going to be traveling via the toll road at $3 a pop each way! And that doesn't even take into consideration all the patient visitors or the patients attending doctor's appointments when they expand their medical office buildings .... truth is, a hospital doesn't compare to the office buildings that were slotted to go on the site.

It is one thing to choose to live next to a hospital; it is quite another to have it forced on you by getting 'special permission' to change the rules that were in place when you purchased your home.

It would seem that the bulk of the complaints from the anti group in this area fall into the NIMBY category ... but what about the overcapacity at Loudoun General, they never seem to discuss this. I have a close friend that runs rescue in Leesburg, and she says "Loudoun is always on reroute ...we have to take people to Winchester/Fairfax or Fair Oaks all the time ...its horrible". She is also a Broadlands resident. So when it is you or your loved one who needs care and has to be rerouted .. and gets stuck in the traffic, remember how you didn't want the hospital for NIMBY reasons. I am not trying to be inflamitory, but I think the need of the greater good would take presidence over corporate balance sheets or your back yard.

    Flame away...

My feeling about this hospital issue is: YES - Loudoun definitely needs another hospital - but not in Broadlands. I'm all for an additional hospital.

Why not Broadlands? I do not see why everyone is in a snit about this. I have to agree with Marielaveau on this. No one seems to want a hospital nearby but probably would if they needed it.

Marielaveau ... had you followed the application from the beginning, you would already know that those of us who live near the proposed site do not disagree that Loudoun County needs another hospital. You talk about re-routing from rescue in Leesburg and the greater good ... where do you think these rescues are coming from? They are coming from Leesburg and points north and west of Leesburg ... Purceville, Hillsboro, Lovettsville, Lucketts .... what about these people? Don't they deserve a hospital near to where they live? If they did get a hospital, they would not need to come to INOVA Loundoun. .... Any while I am at it, it has NOTHING to do with compeitiion ... we in Ashburn have our choice of Loundoun, Reston, Fair Oaks, and Fairfax ... we go where our doctors have privileges.

The traffic associated with a hospital far outweigh any benefit that the hospital would have ... we don't need all the additional traffic on the streets that our kids take to get to school each day ... we also don't need all the strangers coming into our neighborhoods, nor the buses running along Broadlands Blvd ...

The towns out west WANT and NEED a hospital ... there is plenty of undeveloped land to choose from ... give them what they deserve, access to state-of-the-art healthcare ... that is what is known as the greater good on this topic.
