I started this thread for us to keep updated on the status of Broadlands Village center. So far I have this link:

    http://www.saulcenters.com/prop/vaprop/nova/broadlands/broadlandsprop/lp.htm

We have a Safeway, a bank and a gas station set to come in. If anyone has any other news or comments, please share!

and ps. Anyone know how we go about trying to get a Krispy Kreme store put in? :D

    Joe,
    Give this a whirl:

    ATTN: Investor Relations
    Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc.
    P.O. Box 83
    Winston-Salem, N.C. 27102
    336-726-8917
    E-mail us at KKIR@krispykreme.com

According to their website, they are not planning on opening any new stores in the US right now....:(

Crap, thats twice Ive messed up on your name....sorry again. Im the kind of person you meet at a party, tell me your name, then 5 minutes later I ask you what your name is.....dates, places, names are not my ball of wax. Now my wife can remember your name, what you were wearing, your shoes, the name of the person you came with.....ugh, wish I had a memory...
Sorry John, is it ok to call you Horner, in case I forget again....[:I]

I vote for Dunkin Donut -- you can get those darn Krispy Kremes everywhere, including the local Giant and most gas stations. We need a Dunkin Donut...

I'm for the Dunkin Doughnuts & Baskin Robbins combined store. Best of both worlds.

Dunkin Donuts are nice, but a lit up Krispy Kreeme 'HOT DONUTS NOW' sign is what I want to see! The ones you get in Giant/etc are a day old - ugh.

On a side note, anyone hear anything about the fast food place thats supposed to come in by the gas station?

How about a Wendy's? We have just about all fast food restaurants right around us, except for Wendy's.

Also, the construction workers have been working on the site. It looks like they are getting ready to install the sewage pipes. A bunch of trees were taken down along Claiborne Pky side.

    What is a Baja Fresh?
Is it healthy? Let's have something healthy, maybe a place you can come to and sit inside... or outside on nice days.

We could have a place that would benefit our neighborhood -- not just another stinky fast food joint. A nice bagel shop, bakery, coffee house.
    Something special.

    Hornerjo-
Last month I met with the Developer of the site around the gas station. As of now, there are no plans for a fast food restaurant on that site. None were interested. The corner spot is currently being marketed for a bank. There are plans for two eating establishments in the retail/office building. One will be a Chinese restaurant and the other has yet to be determined.

it would be nice to have in that future expansion area a BJ's, or toysRUs or even a Target.

Of course, not knowing the area too well and moving there in Jun/Jul time frame, I have no idea what is in the current area.

    Speckhard,
there is a Target and Toys R Us in Sterling (Rt 7 & Cascades Pky). There is a Costco, Sams Club, and Wal-Mart near by.

Sorry about that - A good one would be a gymboree where they have childrens classes (there is one in Chantilly - but one in our area would be great) a decent mom and pop restuarant would be great or an olive garden.

I hope we have a starbucks drive through nearby or I may cry.

Spaghetti Warehouse or Old Spaghetti Factory would be good too.

I have yet to see a drive through Starbucks anywhere in NoVa. But we have a walk-in next to us in the Giant shopping center.
