I'm sorry you haven't found her yet. I know you must be heartbroken. I will keep my eyes open and try harder if I see her again.

Sunflower is still missing. It has been 12 days and we are still searching high and low. We hired a Pet Tracker with a Search and Rescue dog and went on a four hour track on Monday. We think he is some where between Shellhorn Rd and Waxpool. Please keep your eyes open for a big, black cat with a beautiful long coat and flowing tail.

How sad. We will continue to keep our eyes pealed.

Let's hope that some resident who does not read these forums is taking care of her. :(

I have two beautiful black long haired cats that look just like your Sunflower!! We live in SW though, so I doubt their paths would cross, but I will keep my eyes peeled also.

I should probably start another thread on this one, but last night we had a black cat show up in the back yard who had no tail. I'm guessing by the width of the face that it was a female, but that's just a guess. The cat clearly, though, had lost his/her tail. It had been amputated so the cat had maybe an inch or two of a stub. (I had a black cat once who had an amputated tail also, so this little guy tugged at my heart strings!) No collar on the tail-less feline, not that it would have let me get close enough to see it anyway.

    Redon1 -

Where exactly did you see him? The search dog took us on a track right over in that area and I just want to make sure we are on the right path.

    Thanks!

in the tall grass off of waxpool, near the Demott intersection i believe. i was driving down waxpool, leaving the broadlands, and i saw it slinking thru the grass on the right. i remember it clearly because i didn't think it was a house cat- it moved like it was stalking something, head and tail down, ears flat- and looked really BIG. (i thought its tail was part of the actual BODY.) as we drove past, i saw it was a huge black cat. it's clear to me b/c i don't like cats and i thought to myself "damn that's a BIG CAT!" i also said to my son- "i think there's a fox over there!" and then felt stupid cuz it was a cat.

that's a unique looking cat- the tail really sets it apart. i would say i am 90% sure that was Sunflower.

this was last saturday or sunday though- over a week ago...

Redon - On Waxpool, which side of the Greenway bridge did you see him? The search dog took us to the woods by the apartments on Green Stable Square. Thanks!

west of the greenway. i don't know the neames of the apts nearby- it was between the In and Out Market off of Shellhorn, and Demott. tried to paste a google map in here but it didn't work... just imagine you are leaving Cafe Opera, turn left onto Truro Parish. it becomes Waxpool, and you are driving toward Shellhorn. the apts and long grass on the right.

Thanks for posting the second picture, I can tell you I saw your cat over on Windover Drive. I think it was one afternoon last week. I have a gray female cat, and she was watching your guy walk past to the common behind our house.

    dbundy,

Do you when last week? The beginning of the week or towards the weekend? And could you give me the closest cross street on Windover?

Thanks so much for your help!

I'm not sure if you're still looking, but I just spotted a cat that looks like him walking down the path behind Windover that backs the apartments on the other side.

    amye - AHHHHHHHHHH!

Thanks so much for calling and posting. We were out searching down other possible sightings. One was ruled out, but two more have yet to be seen and are closer to home (Ashburn Knolls and Ryan Road). We didn't get a chance to get over to Windover, but YES WE ARE STILL LOOKING! We will check that area out tomorrow, but if you get any more sightings, please call again.

    Thank you!
