FWIW ... it seems that I'll have FIOS here in Pittsburgh, before you'll see it in the Broadlands.

Reason: they have telephone poles here to string it on !! Lots of wires to see and possibly come down in an ice storm, hurricane, etc; but they can string wire a heck of a lot faster.

I'll agree with you on the crappy transition - you'd think they'd even get their website to show information at this point....

As for my own experience, prior to dropping it, under adelphia, I paid 8.95 for the DVR STB and 4.95 for the dvr service. Will have to wait and see, but I read the increase letter as saying it will comparably $11.95 for the box and another $11.95 for the service, if they charge as adelphia had.

I also noticed that for those of us on the advantage packs, my bronze pack is almost $15 cheaper than the 'new' comcast bundle that new subcribers would have to pay.

I just called for the promotional rate. (I was on the 24.95 plan, internet only) I did not have to threaten cancellation. I just stated that I saw the changes in their rates and that I was interested in signing up for a promotional rate. She put me on hold and came right back with the 19.99 6 month plan. I asked if there would be an interuption of service and she stated that this was just a billing change...so I should see no interruption of service. (We will see.) I also asked what plan I would default too at the end of 6 months. She stated that I would go back to the 24.95 per month plan. (Hmmm I hope that is true)

I have currently been living in Broadlands since 2003 and just upgraded my house. When visiting the site of the new home on Mount Auburn (of Broadlands and Glebe) my new neighbor just told me that he saw the Verizon FIOS guys installing fiberoptics and they said that it will be up in some areas in 2-4 weeks! I called to confirm this and the girl on the phone stated she can not guarantee it will be ready in 2 weeks but they are working on it.

We will have another option soon so Comcast will be giving out more "specials".
