    Hey HomeTheatreGuy,
    Do you use/recommend the Bose system for surround sound? We're using JBL 5.1 or 7.1 (not sure) but it's sound is either too much or too little, never quite right....

    Yes I have installed plenty of Bose systems and they perform very well. A few years back I didn't like how proprietary their systems were, but their current Lifestyle systems offer plenty of inputs and they come w/ their own iPod/iPhone docks. The remotes are also very easy to program and learn, though I still prefer the MX450 and MX880.

    One problem with many all inclusive home theater-in-a-box type systems, as well as entry level receivers, is as you said - you need to crank the volume to get them to perform.

    Personally I prefer Sony receivers, especially their ES line, combined with the PS3 for a Blu Ray player. I also like using Episode Speakers and Velodyne subs.

    Thanks, wish my brain worked liked yours in this arena! We like Sony too, it just does what it's supposed to do without breaking....love that! I may be hiring you so stay tuned!
