Ha, you can't be for real. Perhaps you can let us know your level of skill with BGP routing, Cisco IOS configuration, load balancing hardware, enterprise network security and data integrity, unix/linux administration, and the like?

Note: it's probably not a good idea to come onto a forum based in a community inhabited by a lot of people that work at MCI, AOL, and other tech firms and brag about how much computer SKiLLz you have....then again, you're only 14.

Yeah ... get your A+ or Network+ certification then come back. And don't tell me MSCE .. as I've known people who got certified, and have never touched a Windows Server system.

Those don't mean anything anymore, either. Go get some upper level Cisco or Juniper certs. :)

OK. We get it. The kid probably isn't as qualified as you guys to do network administration or whatever. That doesn't mean he isn't qualified to help novice computer users set up their networks, protect their systems, etc. Sounds like he's just trying to make a few bucks, and if there are people out there who can benefit from his services, who are you to judge? IMO I would much rather have my 14-year-old making money working on computers than by doing some of the things I did as a teen (such as washing dishes and pots in a restaurant until 2AM).

When you're 14 and you make claims like this:

...you should be prepared to accept some grief.

Fair enough. I guess I just don't think that you need to have any of these "qualifications" in order to provide the services that are being advertised.

heh...I don't either. I think the people that actually have all the certifications are the worst of the bunch. Most of them just go through the courses, get the certification, then wave the title around like they just pulled Excalibur from the stone. I see all kinds of emails at work where these pompous jerks have a signiature that looks something like this:

    Joe Blow
CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, MSCE, A+, Net+, blhablhablahblah
    LAN Adminstrator
    Some Small Company, Inc

Anyhow, I'd say about 50% of people holding certs out there don't have any day-to-day practical experience with the equipment they're certified in...it just looks good on a resume. The thing is, you have to keep some certifications updated year-to-year so if you don't at least try to keep up with changing technology, they'll take them away from you.

That being said, I'm sure the kid is qualified to help Harry Homeowner remove some spyware or a virus...but that's a far stretch from 'I KNOW MORE THAN U EVER WILL'. :)

Sido sounds like vgking101. Life-less nerd, clinging to his parents, making up bulls--- about whatever he wants to.
