Duck Donuts

Well, I do like a good donut so was interested to try this new donut place in the Broadlands Plaza. Most of the other local purveyors of donuts in the local area (Dunkin', Giant, HT) I find mediocre though Wegman's is decent. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed. They do have a good selection of toppings and I chose a donut with a peanut butter icing topped with drizzled chocolate. The donut is warm when they top it but that was the main problem. By the time I got outside to eat it, most of the frosting had already melted onto the bottom of the box. Was the donut too hot or the toppings too liquid? Not sure, but for $2.39 for one donut, probably not going to try again.

For some reason, they are better down at the original location in Duck, NC. Maybe it's the water...

 

I was wondering. I had Duck Donuts in Herndon first. Didn't think much of them. Then I had the ones in Duck NC. I think the Herndon location should have their franchise revoked after that.

Curious to see how Ashburn lives up to the original. Maybe I'll try them this weekend.

 

My wife and I picked up a half dozen assorted donuts at the Broadlands location last week. They were amazing!
