Yes, that is the way to contact owner or manager. If you go to first post on other DD thread, that might be easier.

if you've ever been to the caribbean and understand island time, then you'll know that the expression "soon come" is so appropriate here! ;-)

Even islanders would be getting impatient by now! This place has been "coming soon" for 4 years.

COME BACK TO THIS POST AFTER DD OPENS TO CHECK FOR ACCURACY FOR FUTURE PREDICTION:

10 minutes after opening- Euphoric DD Donut and coffee fiends descend upon the new biz with open arms and impossibly high expectations

20- minutes after opening- drive thru and dining area packed with people- long lines and slow service tick off Ashburnites who begin grumbling about horrible service and lack of preparedness for such a huge crowd.

60 minutes in- angry online posts about how horrible this DD is flood local message boards, proclaiming that it won't last if their service doesn't improve and if they don't begin providing gluten, sugar and fat free donuts immediately

hour 4: 6 teenage employees quit in tears because they can't take the mean treatment they are receiving from the caffeine junkies demanding immediate and perfect satifaction!!! you call those sprinkles kid?!?!?!

day 2: the same melee as day 1- only now even more angry b/c THESE folks waited until day 2 to avoid the crowds, only to create a 2nd wave crowd of their own. new posts about the disappointment in this DD and how their lives are no better now that it is open, contrary to the anticipated effect of this DD opening...

day 4-steady, normal flow of customers, excellentservice and delish-ish donuts- no posts at all about the great service or food b/c what fun would THAT be???

week 3- complaints about the drive thru ingress/egress, length of lines in the dining area flood DD managers

month 2- DD is empty now that folks have settled back into their recession budgets and see that the previously "can't wait to have, can't live without" DD products as an extravagance that they can do without, especially since the prices are 25% higher than the DDs in Leesbug and Sterling.

if you think i am serious, i am not. please, no pontificating about my negative attitude- it's just a joke.

    Redon -

I think you're spot on. I wouldn't be surprised if the place closes within 1 year due to lack of customers. Hope I’m wrong.

I think the drive-through Baskin Robins business will keep them open

Redona! I laughed most heartily. You have definately hit it on the spot about the way things go around here when a new biz opens up:) Thanks!

I don't have high hopes about this place. It has taken forever to get the building up, and the Coming Soon sign has been there for weeks without a hint of activity. We have a community of desperate junk food consumers, waiting anxiously to pounce as soon as their doors open... yet the fool who owns/manages this business can't get his act together to actually start making some money. What on earth is the hold up? Time's awasting here! With the recent warm weather the line for ice cream would be out the door and wrapping around Claiborne. Why isn't this place open yet! Ineptitude, I fear. If this is the best the owner can do, then I don't want to think about his ability to actually run the operation.

I completely agree with you bird, especially the last line. There really is no legitimate excuse for DD not to have opened by now.

Well do we actually know why there has been a delay?

Could be lots of reasons - don't go slamming this guy quite yet. To invest money in a new business in this economy is not for the faint of heart - give the guy a break. Perhaps he's waiting on critical equipment....maybe he's waiting on an occupancy permit...who knows. I'm as anxious as anyone (I drive to Leesburg to get my DD fix!!), but we should be welcoming this guy, not predicting his demise for crying out loud!

I agree with Steve, don't slam the owner. There are a lot of reasons for the delay and some were out of the owner's hands.

Yes, he's invested money in this business, so you would think he would be moving heaven and earth to get this party started, to someday see a profit. Not a cent is made with doors closed.

I think it's evident that we will all give him a huge welcome and many breaks. This DD seems like a sure success, in any economy - he has no real competition nearby and a neighborhood of customers at the ready, including kids of all ages in walking/riding distance to give him business day and night. So what the heck is going on?! There isn't even a notice that they are looking for employees (as far as I have seen), so this thing is not close to happening anytime soon.

wow. someone needs his donuts! lol seriously, i fear for any new biz in our lovely yet fickle hood. if u dont have an A game from the get go, this hood kicks u off the team. glad donuts arent my weakness! now if their ever build a ruth chris or gourmet cheese shop i will personally keep it in biz!

There are lots of things causing this. First of all, the current owner is NOT the original owner. Second, the hold up is currently with the building's owner, not the restaurant owner, in getting the grounds outside ready.
