Thanks to the Schwarz family for telling me about this forum at the Oregon Wine Dinner at American Flatbread tonight!

Thanks also to all of you who have "plugged" WineSmith on this forum. We've tried to establish ourselves as your neighborhood wine shop by getting to know you (and your tastes) and by being an active member of the community.

I thought I'd take a quick second to give you all a heads-up on some activities we have coming up this weekend.

On Friday night from 5:00 - 7:00 I will be pouring some high-end wines from Paso Robles, California. I visited Paso Robles last month, and the wines that I'll be pouring are some of my favorite discoveries from the trip. We also have a special visitor coming from 5:00 - 6:00 that evening. Steve Lock, owner and winemaker of Ecluse Wines, will be in the store to sign bottles of his wines and talk about winemaking in Paso Robles. Just to give you an idea of how special his wines are: six of my peers from across the country and me all agreed that the Ecluse wines were some of the best out of 200 Paso wines that we tasted last month. This is a great opportunity to discover some fantastic California wines from a region that's giving Napa and Sonoma a big run for the money!

Also on Friday night from 7:00 - 9:00 we're hosting our monthly Women's Wine Club tasting. Please let us know if you'd like to join us so that we can know how much food and wine to have on hand!

On Saturday we'll be featuring wines from Miracle Valley Vineyard, which is a relatively new winery located in Delaplane, Virginia. Everyone in the store is very excited about these wines, which are all from the fantastic 2007 vintage. We'll have a rep from the winery in the store from 2:00 - 6:00 on Saturday, so please join us if you can!

We keep our calendar of events updated on our website: www.winesmithonline.com. We also post frequent updates on our blog at www.winesmithonline.com/blog.

More importantly, we're looking forward to seeing you in the store!

By the way, I thought I'd mention something while it's fresh on my mind.

(I just got home from the Oregon Wine Dinner at American Flatbread, and it was a fantastic meal paired with four fantastic wines.)

Please join us at American Flatbread on November 11th for a dinner featuring Bell's Beers. Bell's has only been in available in Northern Virginia for the past ~2 years, but they have quickly become a local favorite!

Call American Flatbread at (703) 723-7003 to RSVP. Although the menu hasn't been published yet, I recommend making your reservations now since the Dogfish Head beer dinner booked up weeks before the event.

Do you guy carry any of the wine from the local vineyards? There was a classic white from Loudoun Valley vineyard my wife likes, we went their this past weekend on the"farm tour" and they were out.

    thanks

We do have a number of local wines, including some from Breaux, Chrysalis, Corcoran, Fabbioli, Hillsboro, and many others. Unfortunately we don't have the white wine from Loudoun Valley Vineyards that you're asking about.

We do lots of special orders for customers, though. If we don't have what you're looking for on our shelves, we will do our best to get it for you within a week.

Since the winery is out of the wine, we wouldn't be able to get this particular special order for you until the new vintage comes out. I'll see what I can find out.

    Thanks!

I got confirmation from Loudoun Valley that the Classic White won't be available until Spring 2009 when they release the new vintage. I'd be happy to give you a call or shoot you an email when that happens!
