Thinking about fostering dog(s). Wondering if anyone has fostered or is presently fostering with any organization? If you could recommend a group or provide any feedback on your take on the process of fostering, I would certainly appreciate it.

FOHA is a great local organization that is need of those wanting to foster dogs.

    http://www.foha.org/

I know they are currently looking for both short and long term fostering

Direct copy and paste from their volunteer newsletter below

Not sure which is right for you?

Short-term fostering is usually a few days or up to a few weeks.
Normally we need short term-fosters while another foster is on vacation, or when we a dog is recovering from a medical procedure.

Long-term fostering is another great way to help FOHA. Usually long term fosters keep the dog until it gets adopted. This can last a few weeks up to several months. Currently, we have a list of over 50 dogs who are eligible for long-term fostering.

We adopted our dog there and volunteer. We will probably foster at some point just need to make sure our dog would work well with a new dog.

    Thanks

    Mike

We fostered a bunch of dogs through FOHA and adopted two of them. Let me know what questions you might have. Having done a ton behind the scenes with FOHA I can say that while sometimes the rules and requirements they have are frustrating I have developed an appreciation for why each and every one is in place. They do a world of good for hundreds of dogs every year and put the dogs #1, where they deserve to be. I loved fostering and really enjoyed helping to clear a place to allow another dog to be saved.
