Thursday, 6:30 p.m. A neighbor of ours has found a roaming dog that's desparately looking for her owner. She's a small, sweet-tempered pit bull mix, brown/tan in color. She may have slipped out of her collar as she has no identification. I'm just the messenger and trying to help out, so contact Amy at 703/726-7582 (she's got her hands full being a guardian angel right now :) She was found on Millford Drive. Spread the word!

Great news! A very happy dog and her happy dad have been reunited successfully tonight. Dad was wandering the neighborhood, too, clearly worried about his lost gentle pup, and he found her safe and sound.

They also do an automatic scan for identity chips to try & find the owners. I'd definitely spend the money to chip my dog when I get one. Collars and tags are too easily lost. If you ever find a stray after the animal control office is closed, or if you ever find an injured stray, call the non-emergency number for the sheriff's office (I need to look it up & post it later) and they will dispatch an AC officer to pick the animal up and take it to the shelter or to the emergency vet for treatment.
