Anyone found a good company? Our garage door & opener sound horrible. Very jerky going down. Sometimes jerky enough to make it reverse directions.

We have used Academy Door twice and have been very pleased with their service.

^^ +1 they came out when my door got all screwed up a couple years ago. 10 minutes and they had it working and after cleaning and adjustments it worked better than ever!

disconnect door from opener via the pull string, operate door manualy, find out where it's catching -- it might be obvious. Also, you can lube the track and bearings, etc

we had good success with Dr Doctor. Its cheap to have them come out and do a check/tune/lube... might save you from trying to replace things.

Over time the pully sleeves wear out, etc.. it's a quick fix for them to replace the pullys and things don't jump/drag as much.

Door Doctor is my go to company as well. Upfront cost, no gimmicks.

Thanks for this thread. +1 for Academy, we used them based on it and they were reasonably priced, fast to come out, and did a great job as well.

Do not call ASHBURN GARAGE DOOR repair. The guy came out and tried to sell me a new $1100 garage door opener. His next model was $650 and his bottom barrel model was $450. I ended up going to Home Depot and buying one of their nicer models for $198. Installation from Home Depot is $97 but I ended up getting my Dad to help me, we installed ourselves.

We used Door Doctor as well when we had to replace our garage door from 2 to 1. No complaints.

Looking for more recent feedback on garage door repair companies. Our garage door has been very jerky and this will be the third time in maybe 3 years that we'll need to get it serviced. The last two times a repairman came out, lubed the track and bearings, but within months it's back to being jerky.

We just had Dulles Door come out yesterday. $130 for the service call. No gimmicks. No fluff. They even lubed and serviced our other door free of charge.
