Thank you Sunny!! It takes a special person to step up and take on the position of Halloween parade chairperson!!

For those of you not familiar with Sunny; she is an original member and creator of our most popular event Broadlands Live!! She is tireless in her efforts to bring affordable events to this community and she is one of the twenty volunteers I mentioned in my previous post who always make themselves available!!

I will post on this thread our next meeting (to take place in the next two weeks) I look forward to meeting all those who have said they were available to volunteer for this event.

    Tammy
    Events committee chairperson

    Tammy-
Don't forget that an ad must be in to the office by Sept. 15 to make it into the October Newsletter so we can advertise this event.
Hopefully, you will get enough of a volunteer response before that.

We've got a new year coming up - and a new events coordinator (yeah!). They've probably already thought of this, but I'll throw it out there anyway.

Set a calendar of potential events for 2010 and get it into the January newsletter and we'll post it here on the website. Along with the newsletter/web listing, include information about how to volunteer for these events. Be clear that each event must have an event manager and a minimum number of volunteers, or the event runs the risk of being cancelled.

On top of that... send the information AGAIN to every resident via the Annual Meeting Notice mailing in the Spring. That's a chance to re-visit the remaining events for the year and point out which ones are at risk due to lack of volunteers.

While not all residents visit the website (dang) you're certainly welcome to send us (Tech Comm) stuff to post. We try very hard to catch all the events and post them - sometimes digging through the newsletter to get the info.

Finally, we'll do our best to help you find ways to make it easier for residents to volunteer. If that's a dedicated email address (ie: volunteer@broadlandshoa.org) or an online input form, we're happy to work that out for you. [Take the new online yard sale submission system as a past example - thank you Aric!]

I totally empathize with you. We run Flicks with the same 5-6 people each month. However, when we ran short of our usual staff, residents stepped right up to help us out. We just had to put the word out that we needed help for a specific date and time. I guess folks are more apt to volunteer if they know up front when it is, and how long they'll be working.
