It's time to renew. Anyone especially happy with their home insurance? Thanks.

We're long with State Farm. We have umbrella coverage for home/investment prop/and auto - so decent discounts. Nice having a long term 'brick and mortar' agency to work with as well. PM me if you want our agent's info.

Only advice is don't look at just home insurance. Many companies (mine is State Farm) gives significant discounts for multiple policies (home-car, etc.). My home policy would be $150 more if I wasn't carrying auto insurance......

Certainly a good tip, but not a great option with my current auto provider. Thanks.

Maybe the key word is "current"! :)

Be careful about putting all coverage under one company. A lot of companies will drop coverage if you exceed a given number of claims in a certain time period. Maybe 2 claims in 3 years. This count is done across ALL of your policies. So if you make a car damage claim and then a homeowner's claim for a break-in, both within the given period, you may loose coverage for ALL of your policies. Talk to an agent (hopefully honest) about this.

We use Liberty Mutual (PM me if you'd like local agent's name/contact info in Leesburg) and have been very happy; competitive rates, great personal service, agent came to our house to sign docs., etc.

I use Ameriprise and went through the Costco member section to get their best rate.

Previously I had State Farm insurance solely for over 16 years but found out they are overcharging in our area. When I did a price comparison I found out that I am paying $700 more a year for using State Farm home/auto/umbrella and thus switched to Costco's insurance negotiated rate with Ameriprise. Same exact policy except $700 cheaper.

I recommend anyone that has either State Farm/Geico/All-State to get a phone quote from Costco-Ameriprise as those rates seem to be cheaper. Had them for two months now with no problems.

I second Liberty Mutual. Have used them for over 15 years now and they also provide me with my car insurance. Great rates (especially if you bundle car/home) and great service.

If you’re eligible, AARP insurance is quite good actually. I have their home and auto and have had one claim on each over the last 5 years, both settled well and very promptly.

I really like Amica. I've never had a claim, but I was very impressed with the service I received when I set the policy up and when I called later with questions. Everything seems very organized.
